Here are the files that make up the improved menus in BroodwarAi 3.1 if anyone is interested in adding them to their mod. You can also permanently place them in your patch_rt.mpq. Instructions included in zip file.

Scrolling 4 maps at a time is not fun.
Once you start using these elongated menus you’ll never want to go back! smile.gif

Funny ironic sidenote: Believe it or not, this tiny mod and the picture were once considered taboo here at SEN before this MOD forum existed. Mods were not allowed at SEN back then. It caused a little uproar and I eventually removed the picture... kinda funny looking back now.
Mods not allowed at SEN!

Wow, Yoshi had some crazy ideas back then. I'm glad that rule was reversed.

The screenie looks nice, I'll have to check out the other menus smile.gif Sweet stuff!

ADD: May I ask how exactly you modified them?

Dear Killer_Kow(MM):
*.bin editing controls things like this.

Dear bajadulce:
Cool stuff, I may add this to STF, though I have an idea of another improvement that I'll try out...

I figured that, but how would one go about editing these particular .bin files?

nice job bajadulce,
u may have potentially sense to be SC UI desinger wink.gif
though there is another one which Improved most of Starcraft menu (inclulde B.net interface)

anyway.. The need to comes such an appropriate Bin(file for UI) editor
which looks in good shape for general person

currently most of Bin editor things are lacks supporting comprehension,
much less for that of settings

beside, there is no kind of Actual-view features
wat is annoying all items are assigned just by ur imagination

i just wish that support out such an code viewer or layout code editing funtions
in near human language at least thumbdown.gif

You have to hunt down the specific file in the stardat.mpq or broodwar.dat depending if it was originally on starcraft or added for broodwar.

The best way to find them is just to take out all the bin files and go through them one at a time, the abbrievated names can sometimes help but then again they can misslead.

ADDITION:
Also doesnt that menu apply for the one player too??? so if you wanted to choose what race and players while in one player you wouldnt!! Unless its only for multi then sweet.

There's BinEdit from ShadowFlare... I've never actually used it, though...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by nirvanajung on 2006-12-30 at 23:55:25
lol hey guys i'm not asking such as "where is editor and how to use it " things
i know about editors to edit bin file and another solutions to edit them
without ShadowFlare' BinEdit
Also i already know how UI is consisted of each files and each locations
and each file names lol

my point is ... ok i'd like to say specificly
she's editor and other solutions are lacks supporting for comprehension the use
to figured out about locations of menu items, it is much less for the possibility
to allow you do checking and seeing the present layout

Pie_Sniper just try use that if u didn't used that
then u'll see what is the lacks for general person in there

I think i get what your saying.
And if i do get what you are saying then I agree.

BinEdit is a bit hard to understand in ways, well its not so nebie friendly basicly.

Well... my point is not like that lol
but it maybe the reason is my writing in english bad

anyway... i'm not think that hard to understand and
basicly that have interface and menu quite friendly

my point is ....
The most of deadly fallacy is "Probably, u can't see any responses of operating in the BinEditor "
even though u have changed each item properties

probably you could assign each items and the filelds just from ur guesstimate
unless u have really good in HEX editing lol

Yes, BinEdit was used to create these bins. The pic in first post is yes, multiplayer create game. Singleplayer uses gluload.bin and is not so "elongated" because the "race" selection window is needed below it whereas multiplayer's race selection etc. is done on the next screen. BinEdit is a little akward to use at first. A pad and paper along with a calculator make things a bit easier tho. Use the "view" tab "show documentation" and unclick/click to see your updated changes as you go. This took a while to figure out.

Here are some other things that BinEdit was used in our BroodWarAi Project:
modified glumain.bin
this gives us our main splash screens. a very common .bin modification.

modified gluload.bin
this is the "Single Player create game, replays, load"

modified statres.bin
modify the "become observer" tab gives us our individual in-game "logos"

Somebody Pm'd me because they had trouble with the installation instructions? Turns out the were using the drag and drop method as described but only dragging ONE folder at a time. This will not properly archive the files.

NOTE: When dragging and dropping "files" to open Winmpq window, yes, you will need to type the proper archive in the folder window i.e. scripts/, rez/, etc. In this example tho NOTHING needs to be written because you are dropping MORE THAN ONE FOLDER. This is key.

Very convenient function of WinMpq I might add!

unless you extract all the files from the winzip, then all the files should be in there proper folders, then you can just drag and drop all the folders.
