In regards to the improved menu, i believe a tutorial for bin editing would be a great addition towards SEN. perhaps we can get some friendlier UI's

Get BinEdit... Open a *.bin file. Edit the fields.

how can u see the response of your operating in BinEdit
have u ever get any response successful and changed UI of SC from there ?

probably you could assign each items and the filelds just from ur guesstimate
unless u have really good in HEX editing lol

Ive been working on alot of the bins for my latest mod which involves a mod map thats in the mpq. I had to make it so you can do alot of things cause otherwise it would crash. Ill upload it as an example if anyone wants to see?

you can check your "modified" .bin several ways.

1. in BinEdit menu under "view" tab, click/unclick the "show documentation"

2. Stuff the new .bin into a SEMPQ w/ Winmpq. Obviously make sure you "archive" it properly i.e. rez/ or whatever folder it needs to be in.
here is a related guide to this. http://z8.invisionfree.com/BroodWarAi/index.php?showtopic=10

3. Stuff the new .bin into patch_rt. mpq. (not recommended method sad.gif )

so can i see "modified layout" in the Binedit view by operating to click/unclick the "show documentation" ?

for your other answers, yes i already know about that
i tried to ask about checking changed layout

ok, i'll try that operate menu

ADDITION:
where is the "show documentation" ?
i couldn't see any related menu to show in the "view menu"
where is that ?
i was trying operate to "visible ..f3" but that was nothing

yes nirvanjung looking back at my instructions were a bit vague and confusing... sorry. I am usually pretty careful not to give misleading advice.. don't know why I wrote "show documentation" it has been a while since I've used binEdit.

so here is updated info..

the way I've "pre-viewed" changes were as follows:
1. modify your stats in the properties window
2. click file/save
3. click/unclick view/Dialog Box display to "refresh" preview of your newly "saved" .bin

The file/save I found was necessary to refresh your changes.
Ok hope this is clearer

The way I veiw it when i change something is I hit F1 twice, cause it removes it then re draws it so you can see it again. Works great that way, could be better tho.

ok ... i'll try later
btw ... how do youguys enable to selecting each specific items of UI to change them
inthe binedit
i mean not a file name i say about such as "ok/cancle" buttons and each opearte box

i coudn't see What does a ui( a bin file ) comprise in Binedit view
i mean when i load bin file and replace pcx file into bmp as perpectly
but there are nothing to see any loaded items in Binedit
so couldn't select a box or buttons to changing thme

just type value in the fields of properties window ?

To refresh binedit type F1 two times.

There is a slider on the properties menu just slide it around to change which item you are selected on.
Also it helps to be set to view current element so you can tell which one your selected on. Just type F1 twice after moving.

Use SCU, guys! smile.gif BinEdit Reference by me. Parts of it was taken from an old CC tutorial that isn't up anymore now that CC looks like it does.

It's not a perfect article, but it should provide some help smile.gif

I just made a basic structure of a *.bin file and hex edited... (yay a screenie of my mod)
Someone should make a better working *.bin editor. It is a bit confusing.. I forgot how to make it update the display with changes you make. I think you have to click the blue area, then click the option dialog...

Shadowflare is highly considering of making a new binedit, so im sure support might help her get it done.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Ojan on 2007-01-06 at 08:12:42
Where has she said that?

Anyway, all values etc should be figured out first or during the process. Shouldn't be too difficult to do, though. Also, a better layout would be to try to keep everything within one window :)
