The launch of Maplantis is a sign. We actually map there.
Also, patch 1.14 killed us.

err... how did no overlaps in titles and no colors/overlaps in force names kill us? it probably saved us instead, so people stop spending 80%+ of their mapmaking time lapping

We Need SC2.
We are being attacked by Noobs, hackers, and uhh
Lag.

SC2 would be nice. But I like how SC is now, just noobs galore, 56K lag, and lack of interest in original map-making.

SC2. Ouch. That hurts bad. SC2 would ruin everything, just like World of Warcraft ruined for the people playing normal Warcraft 3.

What is it..The 19th time this topic was made? Christ. Well, SC has a strong fanbase, so it's not gonna die for a while. ggendoftopic.

Or maybe even starcraft ghost might come to replace starcraft. it might actually bring people back cuz there would be no hackers for the first few months of it being out. i know im gunna get it.

I know what you mean, but it's not like there are no maps being made here at sen. In the past week, like four maps have shown up in Showcase. Plus, atleast 5 maps are made for the monthly contests.

Sorry for the grammer issue. I don't mean people don't map here at SEN, it's just I've seen SEN long enough to see that it has turned into a chat site more, rather than a 100% mapping site, because I had browsed the site earlier before joining. Not saying you have to map 24/7, but I've seen alot of maps being made and they're never finished. Yea, 4 maps, wewt. I just think they're not as many mappers and people mapping here as there used to. But yea, some people do still make maps.

Well, it killed bounding for one thing. There used to be a big bounding community. Yea there's OSMAP and a new program to unlap bound names, but not many b.net bounders no about them. All I'm saying is that I think 1.14 was a mistake and a waste.

Are you really naive enough to think that people on Maplantis will always finish their maps? People stop their maps because they lose interest in them or something else gets in the way.

And if the bounding community is gone, then good riddance. Bounds are terrible.

I never said they would finish every map they make. I just think alot of maps are stopped when they looked good.

Yea, you probably have never gotten to know bounds, or barely even played them. You probably think they're terrible because you haven't played a good one. Whatever, if that's your opinion, good for you.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Are you playing classic? Or are you just annoyed that everyone only makes 'nArUtO dEfEnSe' and 'STR1P JESSICA ALBA PROS ONLY'?

How can StarCraft Ghost replace StarCraft? It's a shooter and StarCraft is an RTS.

I feel offended by that statement. Otherwise I agree with everything else you said.

Uh...Blizzard cancelled Ghost several months back. I don't think we need to worry about it tongue.gif

As for "Is SC dying?" I say it is in the way that any game does. Nothing lasts forever, and that includes the fanbase for a video game.

I say it's quite the opposite at least in Korea for competitive gaming.

I was there last week and they have games going on tv. It's pretty exciting stuff to watch 2 pros go at each other with swarms of units as sc was meant to be played.

I'm even going to try some from now on, but the learning curve will be rough. Comp stomp it is I guess.

I believe that SC will live on for quite some time. However:
Blizzard turned a good move into a bad move. They said basicly, that after frozen throne, it was SC2 time. A good move because fans had to wait and beg for it more. Then they decided against that, and went to make WoW because it was as if they didnt already have enough money. (Microsoft #2 right here folks.) Then, they decided they were already making so much money on WoW, why not forget about the millions they could make off of the Diablo and Starcraft fanbases with follow ups, and just patch them to make it seemed like they still cared, but just made the games worse.

Blizzard is on drugs. WoW is the drugs. They need our help.

ewwwww, SC2. That's gonna be like 3d and what not, that's gonna make it horrible.

WoW, I have never played it thus have nothing against it.

Is SC Dying? I wouldn't say East is literally dead, however all they ever host is boring maps that I hate so for me SC is pretty much dead.

Which would suggest shocko's soon map making retirement tongue.gif

The public servers will most likley die out after a period of time, but private servers are sure to remain open for a while after public servers eventually die out.

I don't understand how people see an ongoing monthly fee as worth it for one measly RPG... Then again, I never cared much for RPGs.

I don't think that StarCraft is going to die any time soon. If any part were to, it would be the stagnant English-speaking UMS community. Lately, I've gotten a lot more fun out of Korean maps than ones produced at SEN.

Nothing will replace Starcraft except Starcraft 2, and even then its doubtful.

Well, many games played by early man cost people their lives. So I guess that would be more expensive right?
