Organize the wiring
Alrighty. Where to begin? Ah yes, organize the wiring. Organized wiring can vastly improve airflow through your case, making your fans work less and improving their lifespan while cutting down on noise. To organize your wiring, you can simply use twist-ties to keep them together and give your PC a cleaner look inside. If you want to look really professional, you can use tie-wraps (some of them are reusable now) and these cable clamps to make your PC look professional inside and get the wires out of the way of precious airflow.
To also improve the look of your wiring, here is an excellent guide to sleeve your wiring.
Remember those old ugly flat IDE cables (those white ribbon cables)? You no longer have to deal with them! Buy some round IDE cables for use in your PC. *Note* IDE cables with all 40 holes open can be used to connect Sound Blaster cards to front panels.
Keep your PC clean
This step is probably the easiest to do of all. Dust can act as a serious insulator for components, and this problem is magnified when your PC is running on only air cooling. Some good steps to take are to vacuum your room (I'm not joking - this cuts down on a ton of dust) and elevate your PC off the floor. The higher your PC is off the ground the better, but even just a few inches will severely reduce the amount of dust that goes into your PC.

Nice so far... If you have flat IDE cables, I really recommend getting rounded ones... it's impossible to do anything with flat IDE cables -_-

Yeah, I know. I have a flat IDE cable from my X-Fi Platinum to the front bay panel, and it looks ugly besides not being able to bend like at all left or right. However, my motherboard came with round a round IDE cable, and it looks hot! I'll add that in - thanks for reminding me Death.

Convection cooling is nice also. Look at all the Mac computers. Most of them use little or no fans at all. Most famouly the SE/30. No fans whatsoever. Or the G4 cube also. It 8x8x8" and uses no fans, unless it is modded that is. The thing is with these macs, they are so silent, you can't go back.... In my opinion, most computers need to work more on cooling without fans or fluid... you know that over 10% of all the US's power goes into running, maintaining and cooling servers? (NewScienist 2006). SEN is contributing

In all, if computers had no fans, would ther be slightly less heat as well? Although you do have a good point, dust is a killer for any computer

My computer has 5 fans, and is quite quiet. I keep it nice and cool, and it never overheats.

I figured out the overclocking problem I had. I had the FSB and memory at a 1:1 ratio, which would try to make my memory run at like DDR2 1200 (ha ha). Even at 5-5-5-15 and increased voltages, it was impossible. Silly me. I have my E6700 clocked a quiet 3.1 GHz right now until I get better cooling. I was pretty much sold on the Tuniq Tower 120, but then CoolIT is selling a new, more efficient cooler for $100 less. I might just have to look into that.

Well, obviously you aren't going to gat far on a 1:1 ratio -_-
And uh.. the Tuniq tower doesn't even cost 100 dollars.. how does it cost more than 100 dollars than the CoolIT you are talking about..?
Get the ZALMAN 9500.

this is 2007, my DVD RW is SATA, and my DVD-ROM as well, and both drives together cost me 50 euro

Uh... the 9700 is definately one of the best aftermarket air coolers for the price, if not the best.. and the vf900 is definately the best aftermarket air coolers for a GPU... Why don't you like Zalman..?
