Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> What effects did BW patches have on editing ?

I'm currently using BroodWar 1.10. I've began making my map since 1.10 was the latest version, and never upgraded in fear of certain things might not work.

Are there any changelogs regarding map editing lying around ? So I know how far can I upgrade ?

Unless you want to use UED actions, nothing that much. But if you submit a 1.10 map it probably will be rejected due to the fact that noone will play it on battle.net.

Anyway 1.14 added some nice colours... what editor are you using?

Why won't a 1.10 map be played on the battle net, 1.14 simply can't run the map or what ?

I'm using SCMDraft2.7 and a bit of StarForge and Uberation. I don't use EUD. Should I ?

AFAIK, Blizzard patched EUDs, so no, don't use them.

If you want a map played on 1.14 B.Net, simply make it on B.Net 1.14.

They added some colors, and the forces colors don't work anymore, and overlapping text in the title makes it so people can't join, and they got rid of a few of the gliches, and the increased game speeds don't work anymore, like the scarab and interceptor, but I think using a map revealer now will get you a 1.5x game speed...

I'm not sure why Felino said no one would join, since I still love many of the old maps, and when you make them people come, its like how people like to play the old Donkey Kong games.

But can a 1.10 map be played on 1.14 ? That is the question.

And ty for the information, Falkoner. Why did Blizzard remove gamespeed changing units ?

A 1.10 map can be played on 1.14 as long as it doesn't have overlapping text in the map title, game-speed changing units, or EUD triggers. I suppose the question now is if that is the answer wink.gif

Also, Felino.. EUD = extended unit deaths, UED = United Earth Directorate smile.gif

They also added messaging color..but that has nothing to do with ur map..it's just something that was added happy.gif Also, it's possible that not all unit stacked names will remain stacked on the new patch.

This is going off topic.. closed. Good luck with your map, though. Also, I do recommend getting 1.14, even though your map will be fine if you use your 1.10 staredit.

One last thing is that old stacked names would still stay stacked in the new patch.. it's just that the invisible character no longer works, so old overlaps that used it look all messy.
