Staredit Network

Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Xtra Crashes...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Revelade on 2004-08-12 at 15:30:35
Ok, so I am mapping really late at night (6 in the morning ish), then I am working on a trigger then all of a sudden XTRA CRASHES! I am pretty sure I don't have 1000 triggers yet and I have no sounds, I just used starforge for preplaced unit placing and for using player 12 and 22 placing... I spent hours on the map, and it does this to me ranting.gif

Maybe theres some kind of string limit? Where can I find how much strings or things I used?

Thats most likely a computer problem. I've actually hit the string limit before and it didnt crash, just didnt save new strings wink.gif

If you go into the string editor on Starforge you can see how many stings are used and there is a string limit in the Xtra editor.

Each time you edit text in staredit, be it display text message, force names, unit names, comments, everything really, it takes up one "string." There is a limit to how many strings you can use.

This crash thing has happend to me before..
eider you were making terrains or u were placing units..
it will crash/freeze if you carelessly start putting terrains very fast..
like random terraining......

Maxing your strings in Staredit will not cause it to crash. There is a nice error message provided for you. You proboly have "the location bug" or a unnamed location.

I think that would be more related to your computer hardware if it were to crash while just randomly placing terrain or units. I just started using Xtra and was able to hold down the mouse button and just run along the whole map with marines. It got up to 1650, and than I just deleted them. No crashes whatsoever. Maybe the memory couldn't handle it (although it would have to be pretty low memory for that to happen).
