Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> making a khalis crystal vulnerable
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Zwo on 2007-01-05 at 13:14:31
I want to know if it's posssible to create a khalis crystal (or any other powerup) and make it vulnerable.
By standard the crystals are invincible, so i've tried to make them vulnerable using the set invincibility trigger, but it didn't work.

Powerups are invincible. I don't think you can change this unless by modding.

Although, you can use mineral chunks and vespane tanks instead.

Then can the be returned as minerals nobody? (so 1 picked-up mineral will give 8 minerals if is returned?

I don't think a miner can return a mineral chunk.

I can't seem to be able to create a mineral chunk with triggers, is that because of faulty triggering or do i have to preplace the chunks and move them around?

Preplace them and then move them.

You can't make any unit that doesn't come with regular staredit using triggers. Mineral chunks, hero corsair, extra hero bcs, etc. Just preplace a ton of them in a corner and move them to where you need them when you need them.

And to reinforce the fact so there is no doubt, miners cannot return preplaced mineral chunks or vespene orbs.

The reason for this is that in the original SC, the beat one. Miners that were killed while carrying a mineral chunk or vespine orb would leave this on the ground. This was removed from the game because of to much crowding. Also in one of the latter betas, people could interact with sprites, eg a firbat could burn down a tree etc etc. This was also removed.

One might wonder if this feature could at least partially be restored using mods? For example, we could make buildings with certain doodad flingies. Not to sure how we could do the mineral chunk and vespene tank part tho...
