guys im new to scmdraft, and i don't know how to copyright my map, like you can do in starforge. is it possible in scmdraft?

You can just use Proedit if you want to protect the map. But protecting your map doesn't really matter since there's OSMAP. But it's your choice.

yeh i know about that, but id stil like to protect it. i dont want to download another map editor.

It's the easiest way, you can't do it in SCMDraft. And it's not a map editor, it's just a staredit program.

You can just save it in starforge, or use uberation, there are many ways.

yeh i use starforge all the time, but it won't open certain maps.

SCMDRAFT and STARFORGE cannot protect maps.

Actually starforge can protect maps

I believe he means that SCMDraft 2 cannot protect a map, and that even though StarForge can, it can be broken easily.

He probably wants to protect his map for the same reason as everyone else that does.. so nubs don't go edit it and/or rig it.

All public protection can be broken, but it atleast keeps the total nubs away from editing it. Proedit, uberation, and starforge are all viable options.

Exactly what I say. But he's "too lazy" to download another program. Sometimes when I open a map in Starforge that I've been working on in SCMDraft it gets corrupted.
Or noobs can nuke it by looking at it and deleting all the units in StarEdit and save it and there goes your map. -Farty

And n0b0dy-'s really just here to debate and fight with people who say what LW said. It's getting annoying. You guys are so pumped with this CSMAP stuff. I think your wasting your time.

The best protection nowadays is (I'm sort of quoting Tuxedo-Templar on this) submit your map to as many sites as you can. What I would do is tell about it, but don't release it until most people know that you are the maker of the map.

BTW, don't use uber@tion, for some reason it make the map size BIGGER, not smaller. I've never had much luck with that.

If you guys really dont want anyone to edit the map, just delete all comment names switches locations, and nobody will be able to edit it unless theyre a really good mapper

Hide your name in a million little places.

Then total noobs can't easily steal it, the only ones who can steal it are the ones who really want credit for that map, the ones who have enough energy to cycle through every trigger in search of the random places you stuck your name.

Or the smart people could just search for Set Mission Objectives in the Trigedit in SCM Draft with notepad.

Lol, the basic reason to use protection now days is compression and just to make sure that newbs don't get ahold of your map and edit it in normal staredit.

Trust me, just use proedit or starforge. I asked about 20 people online if they had ever heard of OS map, after asking them if they make maps, about 15 said they make maps(since the map name was "do you make maps") and not a single one had even heard of OS map. So I think basic protection still stops the newbs wink.gif

Yeah just use proedit then when csmap comes get it.CSMap will work for a while but i agree osmap will probaly just get updated and then be able to get in csmap. But when u can keep noobs out thats good.

I use uberation2 because uberation3 tends to crash people when they try to make games
Report, edit, etc...Posted by fritfrat(U) on 2007-01-11 at 17:30:34
Uberation2 has also crashed me many a time. I suppose the last thing to add in here is to always playtest it after you protect it to make sure that it does not crash... I've even had proedit change my briefing once.

--Solved.
