Staredit Network -> Melee Chat -> Sqaure VS Isometrical VS Mix
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BOTDZ-_- on 2007-01-07 at 01:32:56
Sup guys this is BOTDZ and i am wondering what tiles do you like better to play on. MY reason for posting this is becuase i sometimes debate myself way to much of what types of tiling i should do. So my way to find out is this way.

Why was this in SCMDraft? -Moose

isometrical. looks the most professional, gets the same job done with less... squareness. plus you can round things better with iso.

I like it when there's some extended terrains as long as it looks unblocky.

Definitely isometrical. It looks so much more natural than square, and very un-natural-looking melee maps have always been a pet peeve of mine.

But of course we all advocate nice looking extended terrain.

I don't care much for extended terrain in melee map. Its not like I have time to sit there and look at it (unless its an extended ramp or bridge, in which case it actually has a purpose).

I like extended best, but only if it's not overused. Maps like Ride of Valkyries, would be impossible with only isometrical. So I voted extended terrain.

Indeed that is what I refer to.
Backwards ramps, long ramps, wide ramps, narrow ramps, wide bridges, narrow bridges, the new disguised ramp, etc.
I never seem to use cool ones in my maps.

That would be a mix.

Wait, when you say square, does extended count, or do you mean stuff like this?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yenku on 2007-01-07 at 16:36:51
Thats purely extended. A map like this would be a mix, and a map like LT would be isometrical.

Mixed would be consider exten, sqaure, and iso

Use ISO.

Well since the ? is for a melee i would have to say a mix because when you are building you dont want it to look like a simple fastest map or a bgh.You want to to look good and when they come to attack they can see some cool stuff and it might be funner to play that way. happy.gif

I think square are better.. because it not blizzard who made em^^ so it kinda hi-tech or i dont know how to say.. i mean.. it newest.. and im a little rebel so i like when it a mod.. [like the square..] and it easier to wall biggrin.gif  [ya im a waller!] just think about it.. the square fit with your building so put a little Suply wall with bunk and tanks biggrin.gif.. But iso are good too!! lost temple is realy great.. but i prefer the easy way tongue.gif

If you assume that Blizzard didn't make the square tiles, then you seriously should reconsider your view on Starcraft.

He means that using individual square tiles is not what Blizzard intended...

ISOM, maybe with the garbage-ish new backwards ramps and stuff because it can enchance gameplay and balance if you like doing near-pure symmetrical maps (which are popular)
