This map, titled "Famine", is a two player map I made that focuses on a small battle area and a scarcity of resources. The feeling I am trying to encourage is the feeling of urgency in the battle for the resource nodes, thus relating to the title of the map.
Under my misguided judgement, I placed the vespene geysers away from the main base on an accessable piece of mostly tar-locked land. I wanted to do this so that you had to quickly secure your gas and hold it in order to be able to effectively combat your foe.
Unfortunately, I did not realize until it was told to me by a map reviewer that certain races work better without gas than others...I guess I never noticed it while playing. How can I improve this map, maintaining the sense of urgency while still making it balanced for all races? This is my first melee map, and I would love to hear your suggestions. The map is unprotected so feel free to mess around with it to show me how I can better it.
Thanks,

Sorry about that, it's in the post now...
I must admit, for a first map, the layout isn't awful =D
Usually maps arent as narrow as this, narrow maps are dominated by terran pushes. It'll probably help to make this map a little bigger, you can copy the terrain in an extended editor and copy it onto a bigger map size. Then add flanking routes and more expansions, etc.
The urgency part... I don't think all races will be able to have the same opportunity to expand to gas as quickly, so I would put a gas node in the main, you could limit it still. If you want urgency, I would have a normal setup, just with less of everything forcing a quicker expansion.
Try that, then we'll see what else needs to be done.
Thanks for posting the map. Never give up, never surrender!
Thanks for the input! I'll work on it and try to make it better.
