Well, I've tried restoring 2 months back and my computer didn't let me so I'm not sure you can go that far. I really don't know so maybe try virus/anti-spyware/adware scans. I don't know really just a suggestion.

is it an xp? if it if then you have to create the restore points, but the comp usually makes a restore point when it is first turned on so i dont know...

When the PC first boots up, it should display (very quickly though, so watch for it) a bunch of shortcuts. If your laptop is fairly new, it should have a factory restore shortcut that restores your laptop to factory default settings. If not, just reformat Windows. If you have neither a default restore or an XP disc, you're out of luck bud.

P.S. As a rule of thumb, I disable System Restore. If my PC gets to the point where it can no longer run correctly, it's time to reformat XP. Also, System Restore can hog up like 5 GB of hard drive space.

Again, restart it. Almost immediately, it should display a shortcut you need to press to restore your computer to the factory default settings.
