I hate to say it, but you need a 128x128 at largest. Please do not continue the map on this size. The reason being that at any larger than 128x128, the minimap is too small and players cannot see whats going on to well on it (ex, drops, sneak attacks, flanks, clustered units, etc.)

That is not a bad concept for a main/natural layout, however it must be re-implemented on a smaller map.

tongue.gif Yea i really like 192 maps, something about them works for me but oh well. Im going on to start the initial pathing out from the nats. Ill probobly go with either a diagonal outward or out and helix in type of pathing.

ooh! Beat me to it!

Anyway, you still have small main bases, no room to fit anything, look how much some standard pro maps give.

Once you get that set straight, its up to you how you make the middle and the rest of the map. Maybe you can find a way to make distances between main bases a little larger (some kinda barrier between them, maybe a slanted wall down the middle with expansions on either side?). Just an idea. Make it your way!

Ill be adding more room and using the very thin sunken ground to my advantage to keep the middle and possibly only the left and right the only ways into the enemy base. This offers flanking for PvT but also slightly counters T tank holds! biggrin.gif

Thoughts? I did a big jump in progress i know, but i dont see much wrong with it.
Also: I have no idea how/where to put/do expos. Help?

There's a lot of space covered by water, you should probably do something with that. Maybe extend from the sides, or make islands, or what I would do, a mix of the two. As for expos, just do what you think feels right. Experiment, see what's too close, or too far.

Well i know, i was going to put them somewhere, but what i currently have i dont think works. Ill post a pic when i can.

You're still making straight lines. Symmetry can be achieved in other ways man, you don't have to make X's all over the map then trying to fill in squares to make terrian. Try again, but this time I really want you to make an effort to make the mains natural looking, like a rough circle. Also, you should put them in the corners of the map, because on this one they look really close. Don't even think about the rest of the map, just leave it blank. Focus on the mains. I really want you to put thought into the mains and how you think they should look.

Making maps takes time, and patience, and sometimes you really will have to manually duplicate the main tile by tile just to get it right. Of course, if they're roughly the same size, it's irrelevent.

These 2 are pretty similar tongue.gif

Now for some actual imput...

Its an ok map but the straight lines are ugly work on that and the over all look of the map the x's are odd looking for a natural effect

I can't see any similarity between those maps.

Where Chef put "why?" on the minimap, you could connect them and make an expansion out of it?

You can 2 islands also.

Ok guys. I totally re-disigned everything but the basic parts of the mains. Im currently wondering about what im going to do with the water around 4 and 8 o clock parts. Ideas? Leave as is? Bugs with other places? Let me know.

I'm not sure you'll want to keep up with this map unless you're up for a renovation.

If you keep it an island map, only keep one expo on the same island as the main.

If you make it a land map again, make sure there is one choke to the main base, and don't let the map have so many tight chokes and make a clear natural expansion outside the main's choke.
