Well, I go to reboot with my Windows XP disc in the drive, go through all of the options...

But, I get this error before I get to start the booting from CD:

"STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure}
The registry cannot load he hive (file):
\SystemRoot\System32\Config\SECURITY
or its log or alternate.
It is corrupt, absent, or not writeable"

Does this mean I am screwed?

Well, there is obviously either a problem with your hard drive, disc, or optical drive.

Maybe you could try running `chkdsk C: /F' in safe mode and then restart your computer?

Can you try to install Windows over your current installation instead of reformatting?

Basically if I boot up with the Windows disc in the drive I get the error. =(

I am going to see what else I can do, if all else fails I will return it. I believe it is still under warranty.

I think it's a problem with the Windows CD.

Try booting up in a Linux LiveCD like Ubuntu..?
