LOTR FOMT : THE BATTLE OF PELENNOR FIELDS

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-The Battle Of Osgiliath,Citadel Of Stars.


The battle was a prelude to the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

Prior to this, Sauron had regained all his military strength and was prepared to attack Middle-earth. He first planned to attack his most powerful enemy, the land of Gondor, where "the hammer will fall hardest". But in order to destroy Gondor's capital, Minas Tirith, he first needed to capture Osgiliath, a city strategically positioned on the river.

-The Battle Of Minas Tirith,The White City Of Gondor.

After the Battle of Osgiliath and the overrunning of the Rammas Echor, the last barriers against the forces of Mordor, the latter moved on the Pelennor Fields before the city on March 15, 3019 of the Third Age as the Great Darkness blotted out the sun.

This looks a bit like a combination of Protect the President and Helm's Deep. I like the idea of adding special abilities though. Also, you really added all information anyone could need for anything. Good luck.

Really? I've only saw a few of them on Bbnet,but,the reason becouse of i wont' post my maps here is that im very bad with english,and some of them have got some english problems.Furthmore,at least he 98% of my maps have got sounds and are too big to post them.

Yeh,this is soemthin' like that,have got much ifluences fom other maps like Rommel's Minas Trith or Batle For Osgiliath.

The onl problem that i've is that i cant' make it disgust.gif .I need someone to help me whit a lag problem,becouse at the begginin' the Orcish player "crush down" and the game need him to play it.So if someone are interested only contact me.

I think his main problem will be the sheer amount of units. I would say that many units would cause lag on most systems.

just a tip, i would REALLY recommend having a unit cap. its so simple a concept, yet i have never seen it done(except when i've used it).

what it is is meant to prevent CCMU and just lag in general. make it so that if enemy has ### units on map already and its time for a spawn, don't spawn until he has fewer than ### units.

Yes,but how the hell can i fix that? i've triyed to delete and remove sounds,units,sprites,dodoads etc... and dont' work.The only player that dont' work is the orcish forces (player4) so...im still waitin' if soemone wanna help me whit this progect pinch.gif

YES! Thanks you for finally making a Minas Tirith map, it's about time someone did!

I just got the PC game The Battle for Middle-Earth. Minas Tirith was pretty easy in there, you just mass archers in the second level and get a few knights to trample anything that gets close. When Rohan came, I used hit-and-run tactics to clean up the camps (and to avoid the mumak). When Aragorn showed up, I was already winning.

Mumak is pleural by the way, Mumakil is singular.

Not at all,this game dont' have much seem with the otherr maps about LOTR.My new map have got a lot of new units,events,characters,terrain and stuff and is totally different of MM Guilds map.

Looks good, but honestly, I think Osgiliath is waaay too big. The main focus point should be on Minas Tirith, since the Battle for Osgiliath was nowhere near as exciting as for MT (unless you like Catapults and River Crossing).

And you can shorten some of the unit names.. like "White Swan of Dol Amroth" can just be called a "Swan Knight" (that's technically what they're called, anyways). And you can also get rid of some heroes.. like Denethor II didn't play a huge role in the battle... so he's kind of pointless to put in tongue.gif

well, the general concept is, if there are ### units on map, don't spawn the next wave. theres a bunch of ways to do this.

the absolute best way(IMO) is having a conconsistent flow of units. personally, i think it helps maintain the feel of being overwhelmed by unending enemy armies.

it is EXTREMELY easy to do and doesn't rely on timers.

you see, very simple smile.gif. All you got to do is fill in '###' with a sweetspot value that satisfies balance and lag issues. you can also make one trig for each unit type, so they respawn independently.


now, if you want to include timers, then do this:

Exactly, Osgiliath is very big,but Osgiliath has been the "real" city of Gondor long time ago,in the meantime Minas Tirith only has been a great Guard tower/citadel.I've wanted to capture the great old and royal citadel of Gondor,and,furthemore,Osgiliath is really more big than Minas Tirith (i mean on extension,buildings and all these)

In my map Minas Tirith is the main and the most important orcish objetive.The truly action takes place on the Pelennor Fields,in front of Minas Tirith.But you can figth and assault other little locations and near citys like Harlond Port,Rammas Echor or some villages arround the White City (like in the book wink.gif )
But,yah,i know what you say when you told me that.I just love Osgiliath,so i've putted it into my map.And finally,yah,i use the river crossing,landing grounds,secret attacks and catapults too tongue.gif ) But after all,Osgiliath Ruins,are one of the most important and tactical points that have Gondor against Mordor,thats why Denethor take order about re-take the city (you know,the Faramir's counter attack,where he was wounded) So,in my map,Osgiliath is REALLY important (especially the landing grounds,the ports and the bridge of course)

Well,one of the most important and interesting points that have my map is the inclusion of all the heros from the books,movies,games and other sources.And Dnethor II is very important,i know that he dont' take part in the battle,but in the books he's more interestin' and "active" that the movie (in the movies he's like a stupid/sucker old man disgust.gif ,and that was gay) But anyway,i putted him there.

But i dont got this...I mean,i got some ideas,but..The Orcish army is huge (really,HUGE!) and have got a lot of different units and heros so...And other problem is that i've got all the "timers" triggers completed,and deleted them now is a pain in the ass...But if the map works,ill do your idea pretty sure!

I know that the main idea and triggers are there,but i want you for help me in my map i mean an unprotected version)But i just dunno how to do them perfectly,i know,im really sucker whit the triggers,but i've putted a lot of hard work on this map (i think that must be the most detailed and worked map that i've maked)

from personal experience, i've found the 'sweet spot' to be 150 units per 64 tiles of 'frontlines.' Another way to ease the unit count is to have high HP and low attack - this way, units die slower and the attacker won't be in a mad frenzy to send units to the front(this also allows room and time for strategic thinking). Don't be afraid to cause a little bit of lag either, both gameplay and lag management are essential and you really just have to compromise the two.

i really don't have the time and motivation to actually work on a map right now sad.gif . of course, i don't mind designing trigger systems and providing mapmaking assistace on occasion.

Mmmm,i agree whit that idea happy.gif .You mean somethin' like the Minas Tirith of Rommel attk/hp balance rigth? Honestly,in all case,for sure,ill take a look to the units stats.Like you told before,i want that my map will be fresh and original,not just a copy or the same and typical LOTR Defence map.This should be tactical and attractive,thats' why i've putted "Tactical Zones" too smile.gif

He he,wow,this is a truly honor,you're one of the most notables map makers (or at least for me) that i saw in SC World.

But,i dont' think that my map can be better than your awesome work.Anyhow,you've been a great influence for my map,and in my opinion,your map is the best map about quality,ideas,terrain and the most accurate compared whit the movies.(except the last version,that one was a poor and crapie version)
