Staredit Network -> Terrain -> Hall of Fame 2
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Syphon on 2007-01-14 at 17:15:52
I'm going to be watching terrain a lot again, and since the old one is completely un-decipherable, I had to remake the Hall. I won't repost the old pieces, but I'll be just a unscrutinizing.

If you see any terrain that you believe deserves a spot, send me a PM, nominate it here, or hit me up with IMs.

EDIT - I will be periodically cleaning out this thread, so when you see 0 replies, don't worry.

Meh, I like how you added the nasty green bathroom of doom, also, nice castle in the sky, I like the shadow underneath.

Which pieces in particular?

I'd like to limit it to a user's 5 best.

i'd say:

1. center of map
2. mini-generators(where the gun range used to be)

That thing is really sprite intensive, I don't think it deserves a spot in the hall of fame.

Ya know, if you plan on making a hall of fame, you have to work on it, it's been three days and nothing has happened

And you think that there should be things added to the hall of fame every day? You know that's not going to happen, they look for something spectacular like the wonderful piece Wilhelm came up with, and that doesn't happen every day.

It would if I made more terrain (and submitted more often, too!)

Oh yes, I forgot about all of those sprites. Maybe an honorable mention. tongue.gif

installation is a VERY limited tileset. its special in the way that you pretty much MUST use sprites and trap units to create extended terrain. Pure terrain blends are minimal and melodramatic. This results in extended installation terrain being centered around atmosphere(as opposed to being centered around complex blends) which COULD be created from pure terrain, but in practise, is produced from artistic sprite usage and only basic blends.

basically, what i'm saying is: Installation is supposed to use sprites.

That's why that piece by JaFF is in there, I was very impressed by the effect of the electricity sparking out of the broken wire.

It is old though. smile.gif I'm sure someone can do a better job! It was a first attempt and I can't be bothered. Someone explore the idea if you want, I don't mind.

Cheers for the shout anyway, can't believe you remembered it...

Blocky so far.

The hall of fame is not the place to show your blocky terrain for the first time. Make a thread and get the public's approval first.

You can't nominate yourself anyway.
