A song has disappeared off of my computer, but I still have it on my iPod. I want to know if there is any way to access the file without downloading software. I did a google search, and I keep getting stuff recommending iPod Access 2.w/e.

Anyone know how?

I wrote a program in VB.NET to do it, you can access the songs but when you put it on the ipod it renames the mp3 to a 4 character name. All the info on which one is which and stuff is in a binary fil called ItunesDB. My program has a couple glitches but if you want it I can give it to you, just PM me.

The songs still have the ID3 tags, so you can find it that way.

Does iTunes allow you to sync the other way?

Can't you just use it as a disk and access to it via My PC?

Actually i found a way. Have my computer open and as soon as you plug in the ipod, for a split second the icon will show as a device. Double click and your in.

You can have it always open by setting your iPod as a disc in iTunes. The problem is, the music is in a hidden folder.

Tools >> Folder Options >> View >> Show Hidden Files and Folders

It's really simple. They call us the technology generation, and you're all screwing it up ;P The iPod is just a hard drive.

The music is all weird names (like C6HJKKE4N) btw, you'll need to search.

The mp3 files' names have not changed. Only the folders they're in have 'wierd' names.

Well if any of you really want, you can use this. You need the .NET framework 2.0 to run it though. You can choose tocopy all the songs off your ipod or selected ones, should all work fine.
