Would it be possible to use a strip of high terrain to create a trench to give men an advantage? Can I see an example of it actually looking like a trench?
Hmm, make sunken ground and put high dirt in it. Coud someone else try to blend this?
I guess that works but I was hoping it would look like they were on level ground but with a small defensive wall simulated by the high dirt, is there a doodad that could be used?
ADDITION:
This is the best I could come up with, would it be possible to make the cliffs shorter so it looks like a defensive line?
All I know is that it is very easy to do in Jungle.
Good job, but is it all walkable?
Man, I wish people would do more terrain for that tileset, it is a cool tileset
It's a good concept but the execution by Regu isn't any good at all really. It's not even blended, just a little in some places and it looks really unnatural.
I know, I'm trying to clean it up so things match better but I don't know how to blend high to low upward. And it is walkable.
ADDITION:
Here's a more trenchlike attempt,
and thus my men are entrenched.
hmmm just try different sprites, eventually u'll find one that works
thats all i can say
=/
i don't even get what you mean by a trench, if i did, i could probably show you if i was able to post pics.
A trench is a long hollow in the ground, man-made. It was used escpecially during World War 1, and that's the reason it's called The Trench War.
I think he's trying to make one of those, using high dirt as trench floor to give the units in it a bonus.
Hmmm, it seems from his second picture he doesn't want them IN a trench, but he wants a trench in FRONT of them, and he wants it to go dirt->Trench->High dirt, that way the units behind the trench have an advantage.
ADDITION:
Oh, and Regu, next time stop placing units BEFORE you take the screenshot, we can't see the actual trench very well...
Is this what you were trying to say?
Why the hell would any1 take a screenshot with a grid still on... it completely obscures the absolute blockiness of the subject. Blasphemy!
Ah, two trenches facing eachother, that is fun.
Sorry about the last pic, this one should be easier to see.
I guess I'm really trying to create a small barricade for men to stand behind to allow a tactical advantage like high ground but leaving them on seemingly level ground.
Okay, so he wants an unwalkable terrain, and the side where his men go would be high ground, so they have the advantage of long range units having a hard time hitting his men, and short range units having to go around.
What kind of map are you trying to use this for anyway?
Wow, trenches, i was wondering dat' too
Thx!

Trenches arn't natural occurances, so don't rate it no how natural it looks.

Falkoners earlier comment
What you're talking about isn't a trench. That is called a Turret Defilade. In modern warfare tanks use them to hide the base of the vehicle behind a dirt rise or something and the turret can still fire.i made a good trench in jungle, it was cool

Why dont you post a picture of it then, I would like to see what you did.
Problem is he wants high ground on one side, so that wouldn't work, since both sides of that trench use a dirt terrain peice.

Well, even though trenches aren't natural, they do not tend to be repetive. Using same tiles in a line does not make anything better.
