Well this is the final year before I go to high school and for one of the courses I pick will lead me to visual arts(media) so does anyone know any good flash animation programs were you can create your own custom animation. I'm currently learning more about photoshop and gif animators but... pretty much yeah.

I believe you can get it for $100 if you're a student. Plus, if you're only looking to do ordinary stuff, you could get an old version on ebay or something. flash basic should be fine for whatever you do.
BTW, the only thing you can use to make flash is Flash...

In the United States, how is it legal for them to sell their products for $500+? I thought there were restrictions against price gouging, and you can't honestly tell me that struggling game developers can release less successful software for $50 a copy that require more programming expertise than say PhotoShop...

At that, all Adobe products are just rehashes of old products. When was the last time they came out with something brand spanking new?

Oh, they do. It's just that sometimes they may not be things that most people would actually use regularly.

well since this topic is still alive is anybody here taking media arts in high school cause the main reason why I was looking for a flash program is because my future career is working with flash animators and I should get started early and get prepared for highschool. And combined with my visual arts...

macromedia flash studio is the recommended platform. you should get MX 2004 (what I use) Or Flash 8. Those are the two latest products i think. Just a word of caution, if you plan to have a career in flash be prepared to learn a hell of a load of action scripting.
