Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Stacking Burrowing Unit?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vampiir on 2007-01-24 at 10:23:43
I looked around, found nothing... So how can u stack lurkers where they wont move around because there is no space? and since i made this thread, how to tell a computer unit to HOLD position? I know sum1 posted the hold position, but can u do it without triggers? Or if u have to, what would the trigger be?

What im trying to do is, make all lurkers on the map burry, in the "Null" terrain, and stay there... for ever! and im thinking, I might have to make a tile on the null terrain or something?

You could just make a location around all the lurkers. If a lurker leaves the area then remove that lurker and create a burrowed lurker in the location.

Make a location outside the map. using Starforge or SCMD(resize make location, resize back)

Trigger
Description:
Keeping lurkers in place
Players:
¤ whatever player
Conditions:
¤ Always
Actions:
¤ Move All Lurkers owned by Players to Out of map location
¤ Preserve

This will make the lurkers unable to move even if they are stacked. works best with hypers.

How the hell do u make a location out of map??? and yeah, ima use hyper triggs... and is it possible to place an already burrowed lurker? ive seen this done b4, but without locations...

resize, make location, resize back.
to make a preplaced unit burrowed just select it, go to properties and flag ¨burrowed¨.

Isnt it enough to make that location on unwalkable terrain? Well, this prevents them from moving but does it prevent unburrowing? You cat try disableing 'Burrowing' ability for owner of the lurkers, but I'm not shure if this will work... I think it wont but still you can try. You can also try using Burrow Detection and when one lurker unburrows just replace them all with the new ones.

making a lurker stay put isnt very har, just put a 1x1 loc over it, then a 3x3 around the 1x1 so the 1x1 in in the middle, then a trig so when the lurk leaves 1x1 but is in the 3x3 move it back to the 1x1, preserve, simple.

Thats not the problem, i simply dont want lurk to UNBURRY

Unburrow*. And I'm amazed it took this long for a response...

Make them owned by a neutral player. A player 1-8 neutral player if you want them able to attack, or a player 9-12 neutral player if you don't want them to attack.

you dont have to resize the map.....
use a 1x1 location in the right lower edge of the map....
that works, too...

Or you can create a location, and, using starforge, MOVE it outside the map(into the gray parts of SF) and that will work as well, although all you really need is to have some sort of terrain that the units you are teleporting there cannot walk on.

you want it so it wont unborrow, but will still attack? so you want it so it will attack when somethings in range, but after it leaves its range of attack it wont unborrow to attack it, ok, try this.

make the lurker start as a neutral players. Put the lurker in a locations thats like 5x5 or something thats the same as the lurks range. Then, make a trig when an enemy unit gets within range, make the lurk a computer player, and when there is no unit within range, give it back to a neutral, you'll need hypers.
