How can I make it so that i build a zealot (which activates spell) and my character (marine) shoots out a line of explosions in the desired direction?

If you want any help with this, you will need to be more specific.

Desired direction? Do you mean coming out in front of where your marine is facing? Because there is no way to detect where a unit is facing.

How do you intend picking the 'Desired Direction'?

So many other things need to be answered in order for anyone to be of service.

Actually, I think that there is a way to tell which way a unit is facing, I just don't know it disgust.gif

You can detect which way it is walking tho.

  • Mobile grid. Tutorial. Mobile Grid map.
  • Coordinate system. Unit Coordinate Detection map. This method is quite simple to understand. Though you may have problems if you teleport your hero around. For that, use the method shown in the attached map that I've made.

After you have your desired location or direction, just make a unit (such as an observer, cloaked wraith, etc.) move to it. From there, have a location following this unit and a trigger dealing the desired effect at the location following the unit. Once it reaches a maximum distance, remove the unit.

It just shows mobile grid system in action. That map helped me to understand how mobile grids work.

Well, you couldn't have it happen automatically, since you can't detect which way it is facing, you can, however, have the player choose which direction to fire it and then use a mobile grid to place all the locations around that marine.
