SEN may not know much about the Unreal Tournament series but it's the game that is hardcore with a lot of guns. The Platforms are definently for the PC and the Xbox 360, no info about the PlayStation 3. This developers behind this game brought you Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, Unreal Tournament 2004 and the engine known as Unreal Engine 3.0 that brought up many companies to buy off from. And since Epic Games were the creators of that Engine, they will be the only ones to squeeze out the most out of it and keep on going.

What do you think about Unreal Tournament 3 (Or 2007)? I think that game would definently get a 9.5 and higher.

It looks damn awesome, I also hope that the game is going to be like the first Unreal Tournament, it was stuffed with some real great action!

Fast paced, head on action. Looks good, can't wait to try it. I don't think my computer is good enough for it, but I'm getting a new in May. thumbup.gif uberwoot.gif

ADDITION:
Just found out America's Army is running on an Unreal engine, if the US government uses it, it's gotta be good (Though I would say that Valve's Half-Life 2 engine is the best out there so far).

You obviously haven't seen Quake 4 or Doom 3. But the requirement/effects ratio, I would say that Valve's is the best tongue.gif.

I would say Unreal Engine 3.0 comes first, then CryEngine 2.0... THEN Source (Valve's) Engine. The Doom engine is old now but it's still good, just look at Prey. After playing Doom 3 this morning and beating it again, you can notice pixels but bigger.

As for "America's Army", it's not by the government neither the latest engine... it basicly uses Unreal Engine 2.0 or 1.0

By the way, you can't compare CryEngine 2 and Unreal Engine 3 to Source Engine because UE3 is all about technology and detailed urban environment (Either metal, streets, bricks, or anything) while CE2 is all about huge and massive terrain environments. Source Engine is just realism, but it doesn't mean it's updated... you can see how the walls in Half-life 2 are duplicated and moving closer shows up pixels.

Valve is going to be updating the Source engine with some massive improvements. Some of those are already found in Dark Messiah (great game by the way - a title I heartily recommend to all), but the big thing they're focusing on is making a multi-threaded engine that can do more intense calculations without really slowing down your PC nearly as much. I would say that the Source engine still has some life in its current generation left, but we're about to see some very cool and exciting new things come from Valve. If only they had the cash base of say... Blizzard, who isn't doing anything important right now. All I'm going to say is that StarCraft 2 would have a hard time against World in Conflict and Supreme Commander.

Although Dark Messiah has great graphics, looking at the screenshots (High-quallity) looks like it's a render pasted on the background. I actually admire that game with the multiplayer and physic puzzles but somehow it had a low rating from GameSpot.

Anyways, we're not suppose to speak about Engines here, we're suppose to speak about Unreal Tournament III.

Prey also have some very great graphics, but I think this has some kind of Halo feel with all those warthog like vechiles and out-door combat.

UT2k7...

I could create another whole topic about why UT '99 is possibly the best game I've ever played for the PC, considering the time frame in which it came out. (ie, the graphics may not TOTALLY stand up to today's standards, but the gameplay sure does imho).

But it's UT 2k7.

I've been a fan of the Unreal series since the first game, and Unreal Tournament was a complete revolution for single player gaming. I skipped UT2k3, but UT2k4 was impressive.

2007 should be a huge hit, as the fan base continues to grow from installments on the xbox such as the unreal championship series. The gameplay should be better than Halo 3 by a long shot, but sometimes games fail to live up to their hype. UT2k7 probably won't. Onslaught looks incredible this time around, and the new updates of the engine make everything just more beautiful. Instead of things "pixelating" as you get up close, the detail seems to improve, from the screenshots I've seen. Every graphical element seems to be improved, especially shading, lighting, and weapon effects.

More vehicles = more fun to some...but me, I've always preferred the on foot deathmatch, which also looks very good. The arsenal doesn't seem to have that many new changes from what I've seen...but I suppose they feel that they shouldn't change something that works. Each weapon will undoubtedly have a few quirks modified, like the shock rifle of 2k3 and 2k4 was quite different from '99, but I don't think the gameplay will suffer due to this.

It seems to be coming along quite nicely, and epic 'games' has quite a reputation. (I remember back in like '96 while they were still epic megagames and made these godly little dos games that I'd play on my 486 while I was like 5 years old...they were pure pwnage. wink.gif) Yet, it's not all my opinion, but every critical review of what the game 'should' be is positive. Will it score a 9.5 +++ by some dumbcrap reviewer who thinks his opinion matters to me? Yes, it will. Will that encourage people to buy it for the wrong reasons? Maybe. Does rating really matter if the game satisfies you anyway? Probably not.

I'm expecting the online multiplayer to (again) be the main attraction of the game, and I wouldn't have it any other way. No other "hardcore" FPS player would. AI will never substitute for a human opponent, but, that's another topic.

***Summary for people who didn't read all that crap***

-Graphics = better
-Gameplay = better
-Multiplayer = better
-9.5++ rating = yes
-Game rocking = yes

They used "3" as the third-generation... not an actual game title sequel. Unreal Tournament 2004 is the same as Unreal Tournament 2003, just with some added mods and Onslaught.

Get your facts straight and up-to-date, because Unreal Tournament 2007 is renamed into Unreal Tournament III and don't tell me about that engine, I already told everybody about that.

If you actually pay attention to the looks of the weapon, they actually try to make every single weapon upgraded, sick looks, and makes it look like if the guns actually does work. Look at the Rocket Launcher, they used the Unreal Championship 2's Rocket Launcher model as if the spiral shot works.
