Being that my last few maps werent overly bad but had alot of notice-able bugs which i found hard to fix, i looked over some pro maps, re read the guide a few more times, and tried to be confident that i could do better. I believe i reached that goal. I consider myself by no means good at melee mapping as of yet, but from this recent map i can see that i have improved.

If there are any bugs other than mineral placement let me know. If its the fact that i used too many bridges, making easy chokes, im sorry but this is a 128x128 so ill need some specific help on the image directly on how to go about fixing it as ive been trying for the past half hour with no ideas on how to do this.

128x128, youre already on the right track!

Open up areas circled with brown, remember outside the main bases and and the middle of the maps should be open.

Always put gas naturals outside the main base.
Put main minerals against wall inside main.

Make the main base blockable with barracks and supply depot or even just a barracks. (may have to replace bridge with terrain)

Other then that, the map looks MUCH better without so many squares and lines. With the suggested changes, it is very playable. Good work.

I just have 1 thing to say, and that's that this map looks a tiny bit unfriendy for protoss. No flanking space at all.

I thank you both. I did a total re-design of the middle and ill be fixing the nat/main minerals shortly, image update soon.

Hmm, you are missing one important issue. I'll explain.
When a natural expansion (first expansion) is inside the choke point, a terran player can easily block thier entrance, take the gas expansion, and turtle the entire game (slowly attacking with drops and stealing other main bases). This is extremely unfair to protoss and zerg.

My best suggestion to fix that, is to make sure that a SHORT bridge (so tanks can't protect the main as easily) or make a small landbridge. Make sure it is blockable with a barracks and a depot.

Sheesh. I don't know if you're gonna laugh, or hit yourself.

Terran can still turtle, they can block the second bridge. Its okay though, just open it up with dirt or make a really wide bridge. You could even just make another landbridge to the expos towards the middle. Tell me if I'm not clear enough, I can show you on the image.

Actually, im working on thinning the bridge tile area in order to provide buildable land for blockage. Need to find blends. biggrin.gif

All right all done. Changes:
Narrows main/nat, fixed it to be buildable and blockable.
Cosmetic changes at various parts of the map
Double checked for drop zones that could be a problem
Doodaded

This is the final, i hope its all well and good.

Just a tiny little error:

Red's main minerals are the only ones on the outside of the map (if you know what I mean by that) and there's a little space in behind each main that could possibly have tanks dropped on them. Maybe just shift red's minerals in a bit is all.

Remove a lot of those doodads, they're making it really hard for Protoss, or indeed any large army to get around. Replace them with walkable doodads (there's a tonne of variations for grass on dirt). Try not to just make squares of grass, they looks really ugly =S For heavens sake, you only have to make grass for a fourth of the map =P Here's a tip for it though. Lay some grass on the ground. Now cut away at it with dirt and make it has natural looking as you can.

Otherwise this map is looking good. Major improvments over your last maps.

Ah! Excalibur! You added too many big, unneccesary doodads, they kinda cramp things and restrict building areas.
Also, the main doesn't look blockable, rememer it needs to be blocked by either 1 barracks and a depot or just a barracks(especially since it is flat terrain).
Take a look at azalea, it shows you a good way to make the main blockable.
