So I'm thinking about purchasing an Xbox 360, but I don't want to unless I know my internet can connect, because most people say it's not worth it unless you have Live.
Someone told me that the Xbox 360 only picks up wireless signals, others have said it won't. My internet is AT&T DSL through my phone line, and it connects to my computer via an Ethernet cord. If I buy an Xbox 360, does it have a port for this Ethernet cord to connect through, allowing me to play it online? Or what's the deal, should I buy a wireless router that allows both my computer and Xbox 360 to connect to the internet simultaneously?

I wouldn't recomend buying a router. Stick to the ethernet cable for both 
I'm pretty sure that ur dsl will be able to get you Live.

You'll probably want a wired router so you can use both at the same time, though.

I can't use both my computer and Xbox at the same time without a router.

Nope, I have 2 computers always on linked through the same router and I can play StarCraft on one and GMod on the other with no lag.

Lag? No, not really.
Games don't really require that much bandwidth, though... it's like 35 kb/s down and 10kb/s up... it's latency that really matters.

Seeing as we are on the topic of lag and xbox live, i wanted to ask how do you change a port for something so i can add this xbox live port? Its for port 88 but it says it will collide with another port if i do it. How do i change the port 88 to something else so i can put the xbox live port in?

I have the same thing ad u do. I have dsl (at&t) and it runs live fine. i use a router.
