Well I got my router installed and all and i just need anyone who has a belkin router or knowledge of one to help me open the port cause portfoward doesnt help much.
If you sucessfully forwarded the port, and you are still having problems with a firewall, it most likely is a software firewall. Are any firewalls such as Windows Firewall running? If so, you either need to port forward those aswell, or shut them off.
Also, if you could proper identify your router on this
list of routers, and then return the link to me I could be of more use to you.
Well this is the router Belkin F5D7230-4. and it seems i did it right and i think I know I did the firewall right so help?
What firewall do you have, and is it on? Try shutting it off completely(along with any other firewall.), then try doing whatever you wanted to do.
Ive got the same one and ive done just about every port and firewall thing there is to do. Didnt do junk for me.
get a better router? (d-link; cisco)
my last router was a d link and it sucked it made me lag sometimes and all the only reason why i kept it was cause i could host.
Get a netgear router. They're beautiful. I have a 20 dollar one hooked up to a 100 ft. ethernet cable and don't lag and could host before I opened any ports.
Length of ethernet cable doesn't really matter until like 364ft (for cat5) or so.. well anyway, 100ft won't really bog down anything... and it's not neccesarilly good to be able to host before you do anything... you actually WANT a hardware firewall, which would be the reason why you are having trouble hosting. That's why you're supposed to configure your firewall so you don't have trouble with hosting ~.~
Anyway... do you have a software firewall on (such as Windows Firewall..) if you do, shut it off for now and try hosting.. =\
explain reason for wanting hardware firewall?
Because, a hardware firewall helps with protecting what goes in and out. It's for protection.

Well I turned off my windows firewall and I got a fullhouse and Then I turned it back on and I only got one I guess I have something not opened fully cause i still get high lat people.
There you go. hardware firewall isn't your problem. You need to shut your windows firewall off. And to be honest, unless you have a better substitute than Windows Firewall, you might as well just shut it off.. Windows Firewall sucks, and you do have a hardware firewall.
Some routers have some automatic port forwarding settings pre-installed into them that are triggered by certain events. For example, there are routers that will automatically forward port 6112 if a computer behind the router connects to a server using 6112. The one Syphon is using is probably one of those that is set up with that by default.
BTW, when Windows Firewall asks you if you want it to allow Starcraft to accept connections, you need to click the yes or allow button (whatever it was that it says).

I don't think so, because I had to manually forward for apache to connect to dyndns.
I had problems for a long time, because i and some friends of mine just forwarded port 6112 TCP/UDP (as Blizzard is suggesting). But then just i (as host) could read any chat, and the game lags as soon as i have more then one player in the game (also depends on their forwarding rules somehow).
Well, now we forwarded all the Blizzard-related Ports (4000, 6112-6119 TCP/UDP), and there are no more Lags, and we are happy (finaly, after a long struggle).
I got a Linksys WRT54GL, it's a nice piece of hardware.
Wasn't it much easier back when we all just had 56k modems?
Well whats wierd is someone on b.net helped me find another problem with my belkin caus he has one nd it worked for a bit until I logged off and came back on.So why would it do this?

The thing I was talking about wouldn't be set up on that port number; it would only be specific ones used by certain known programs that it is known to work with. Besides that, what I described wouldn't work for a web server, since web servers don't go out connecting to people's computers on their own without anyone requesting a page from it.
Well I came up with a easy fix when I play starcraft I plug in my d-link and use it and when I dl music I use my belkin thats no problem
