Staredit Network -> SCMDraft -> SCMDraft 0.7.3 beta Trigedit issue/map corruption
Report, edit, etc...Posted by tto on 2007-02-03 at 13:52:21
SCMDraft 0.7.3 crashed on me with TrigEdit saying there was a problem (I only use the classic trigger editor) and giving me a dump file. Unfortunately it also corrupted my map and my backup archive is empty even though auto-saving and backups are turned on.

This is what's in the SCMDraft console if I try to run it and open my map:

Plugin(E:\BROOD2\Starcraft\plugins\Classic Trigedit.sdp) is incompatible with Scmdraft version
Error loading plugin (E:\BROOD2\Starcraft\plugins\Classic Trigedit.sdp)
(ENGINE) Loaded data.
Opening protected maps disabled!(E:\BROOD2\Starcraft\maps\!!!!!!dddd.scx). Compile with -IGNORE_PROTECTION option set
(ENGINE) Closed Map.

Now the game won't open my map saying it's invalid/corrupted and SCMDraft says it's protected.

You might want to add the map itself as well, maybe someone can fix it (if it's a minor corruption).

I was going to do it now but i just realized it's 95 bytes. crazy.gif
I still have a few backups but it'd still help to figure out what happened.

Im actually starting to get a problem like this myself, every time i save any map now for some reason my editor gets the trigedit message saying "something bad happened" and then crashes.

Send me your backupdb file or upload it somewhere. It normally has to do with the file being damaged, but I have not been able to get ahold of a damaged file.

Whats the size of your backup file? Also, what were you doing right before it crashed?

Scmdb file for that scmdraft install is 17mb, can't remember doing anything notable when it crashed, might have been saving.

Also i've made all the problems go away by working with older backups of the map and making a new scmdraft install in Starcraft\scmdraft. The first install was right in the Starcraft folder which might have been causing problems.

ADDITION:
Okay it crashed again but this time it was probably my fault, I was messing with something else while scmdraft was running when my computer froze. I had to reset it and then I got a map file that's nothing but spaces and a backup db that crashes scmdraft if I try to open it.

I'd put up teh db if there's any chance of you being able to fix it, but it's 374mb so uh I don't know. I really need to just start saving with a new filename each time, auto-saving's spoiled me.

You can try opening the DB in winMPQ, its just a mpq with lots of .scms in it and probably no listfile. Or if you are willing to AIM it to me, PM me with AIM info.
The computer crashing shouldn't damage the map file tho, you may have the last version of the map in your temp files folder (as ScmXXX.tmp, with XXX being a number). You could search for Scm*.tmp and rename that to scm / scx

Trying to open the db with Winmpq crashes but I did find backups in the temp folder, thanks for the help.
