This... this is a perfect display of the idiocy that makes me occasionally assault America. If something like CNN lets these people go live, I just lost all respect for CNN.
I don't mind prayer or anything in school, as long as I can easily say no and do something else not at all worse than that. If they had told me that it's either prayer or cleaning up, I'd be pissed. If I were told if you don't want prayer you can wait, I would be perfectly content.
The Pledge of Allegiance... well, schoolchildren in America are often forced to recite it daily; I'm not completely sure what part it plays in life in America otherwise, but not very significant. But it does
have a direct reference to god, and I was always really annoyed that I was forced to say it. And if I was a perfect human who couldn't break vows, it forbid me from doing anything such as leaving America for good
USA is not a Christian nation. It's a nation that was founded by Christians and is populated mainly by Christians - even though not far from one half of the population fits the 'other' category. America is neutral in any religious war. Or it's supposed to be. If it comes to Christianity vs Islam, we know what side it will join. And it will inevitably say that it was doing it for the good of mankind, even if the cause of the Christian side was less righteous than that of the Muslims.
The comment about discrimination toward Atheists was somewhat justified was idiotic - like all examples of discrimination, Most of the atheists didn't do a thing and were still discriminated against. And, of course, the Muslims bombed the Twin Towers and other Christians tried to conquer Europe and killed thousands of U.S. soldiers and all that... And yet, the worst crime of the atheists was trying to change the signs on the dollar bill and they're the most hated or close to being the most hated minority in the U.S. Funny, no? I wonder how stupid CNN has to be not to catch that.
I've never personally noted any hostility against atheists, but with everything else that's going on in America I really wouldn't be surprised. This is disgusting. Anyone can pray to god anywhere, and yet someone can't tell someone that god doesn't exist without someone else bearing down on them, spreading rumors, and ruining the lives of one out of three million people who had done nothing wrong?
