Hey i could really use some help here helpsmilie.gif

I was working on my map and i decided to rename my map file(.smx) and so i changed the name and the BAM! i couldn't save my map anymore. Not at all.

Then the only thing i could do was that i saved it under raw format(.chk) so i was wondering if there was anyway i could possibly open my map again cause i've put a great deal of work into it ( like 10-12hours maybe more).

So please i hope there's some possible way i could work on my map again.

Thx for your time. Good luck on all your map projects

Do you mean you renamed it to SCX? Did you do this by using Saveas in the map editor or just renaming it in windows explorer?

Attached the map so someone can take a look at it and figure out what is wrong. (you might have to put it in a zip file)

That happened to me when i have switched starforge location to x-tra edit trigger and rename my map... The only way is to save the trigger and remake the terrain... sadangel.gif

you could save the triggers and possible save the terran, maybe you can use SCM Splicer 1.0 BETA to splice the map into a new 1 so you can have terran and input triggers .... i dont no if this works but go ahead and give it a try

I think something happened to me that is similar. I didn't exit out of my file when I tested. Then when I tried to save again, it wouldn't let me. I fixed it by saving it to a different name. Then close editor, re-opened loaded newest map and then saved it to the name I wanted to. Then deleted other one. Bam! Problem soved for me. Dont know if its same situation tho.

If i make a map in starforge, save it, open it in x-tra editor, and try to save it, it tells me that it can't save. but it -does- save it.
But you said you saved it at a CHK and now you cant open it again? i dont know what to do about that... You shoudl post your map and someone can probably figure it out or fix it for ya'

OK maybe i didn't explain it very well.

heres what happened: I was working on my map then decided to rename it my right clicking the rename. I renamed it then tried to save it but it wouldn't let me so then i tried to save as... but that didn't work ether and this is saved in normal broodwars file format (.scx)(you know after the map it says this ex: starcraft map.scx)

Anyway since i couldn't save it save as.. etc i saved it in raw format or .chk format.

I was wondering if there was a way i could open it in .chk format and the re-save it as a .scx format

Anyway the map is attach in case theres another way to fix

Thx for your time. Good luck on your mapping projects

ermm.gif Starcraft locks the file up when it's using it. You cannot be playing the map when you save it or it will say "scenario file unable to be read for writing" or something.

Ya maybe when you were testing your map you forgot to exit the game and you just alt-tab and went to edit your map. Sometimes that can be the problem.
