Well, personally I like rock/techno 
But for your GTA map you should add like 3+ songs for randomization to optimze a realistic radio...

For that kind of map go rap and/or rock/metal.
Always try and find something the fits with the theme.
GTA is about gangsta and stuff, robbing cars, rap would fit in pretty well.

Could add small mini clips from each and add them in. Just let user switch between radio channels or something.

Isn't it uh illegal to post songs from artists unless it's KAZAA or something? I don't know... I would opt for something that makes the mood tense like rap, techno... I like songs that makes the mood badass... If you put country however, I'll come to your house and personally strangle you.

I think you should have 2-5 differant songs or none at all. If your not concerned about file size put several in. Other wise i don't think you should imitate the radio functions of GTA with only one station.
