Hi, I am still having quite a bad time with AI triggers, so bad in fact I am basically about ready to create my own I am so mad at the computers idea of using them. I have been tinkering with SCAIedit for a good couple hours today, but I can't get the ai triggers to function (can't export them into a custom map, some junk about stat_txt.tbl and cannot load when I run the .exe etcetera) Detailed instructions would be appreciated, along with maybe a list of just which programs I should have available. I have a basic ai script ready to be tested, I just can't seem to get it into where I want it. Also, would anyone happen to know if there is a way to include your own AI triggers w/ the map?(As in not having to run stardraft or some .exe file just to play one map) I know I am getting ahead of myself here, but I am curious.

Any helpful input here would be highly appreciated, thanks for your time.

I'm am fully unexperienced in this, just heard that if you use scaiedit scripts in your map, you won't be able to play it in regular starcraft - it's a modding tool.

I MAY BE TOTALLY WRONG.

Well, that rules that out now doesn't it. What you heard was probably correct, anything that needs a stardraft type thing to run is usually a mod to an extent (besides running the special editor it has for those who still use that, I much preferred xtra as soon as I found it) . Well, if that be the case, would anyone like to volunteer to help me set the AI up on a map? I need a main zerg base, an expansion base (both will already be set up) for player 8, and a terran main base and protoss main base for player 7. All bases will need to attack on a regular basis. I am hoping I just missed the part 'where' or something and that a few simple things will fix this, but I just don't know. It is essential that only 2 player slots be used up by the computer on this. Thanks in advance.

Itll be VERY hard but will come out with good results:
Make your OWN TRIGGERS!

Ok, make it so that whoever commands the least units/buildings by __ ammount of time is attacked UNLESS all players have over ___ units.
If that is the case, then build a larger army, then do the trigger.

If a player has no detectors, attack with DTs

If players start massing on lets say Carriers, then start building Hydralisks or Corsairs (good anti-carrier stuff)

If players start expanding, make it attack the weakest expansion

If players has less than __ number of units at their main base, then attack the main base.

just several examples wink.gif

If you wanted to use SCAIEdit, then I could tell you how. But, since it requires a mod it's not really worth it to write it all out. Trigger AI is very complex and annoying to set up, but it can be done. For now, just place the computer's bases and run an AI Script there. There are very few reasons that it shouldn't work.

We excell at Map Making, but we don't consern ourselves with modding at all.
