Xtra editor wont attach buildings. I think Starforge, scmdraft 2, or Xtra 2.5 base does. Otherwise, use normal staredit.

You could just make building it free, and players can do it themselves in the game.

Ok thanks yoshi ill make em free so people can add them themselves. Maybe ill add em later in staredit once im done the bound and defense parts.

Xtra editor wont attach buildings.

Is it because X-tra just doens't attach buildings? Or could it attach buildings, except when you are placing the add-on it would have to be placed perfectly, on the proper pixel? Not that it matters, cause noones gonna spend 10 minutes placing add-ons, just curious.

Its a bug I reported for 2.6. The addons are independant, when they aren't supposed to be. They dont attach to buildings and are owned by players.

You know that you can EDIT the money and time needed to make an addon? ISNT THAT AMAZING biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Yoshi, you could do that with regular StarEdit. And that isn't a bug either. You can either have it one way or the other by editing it, not both. There's no option in any of the custom tools I've used that would allow addons to work right. The editor list also says they're supposed to be player owned and independent.

I said it was a bug for XTRA. Base mode is supposed to have the addons attach.

scmdraft 2 properly attaches the addons when they have correct orientation, I suggest using the building snap for this (so snap to tile)

Actually, it's not a bug. tongue.gif Xtra places by the pixel so that the placement ends up being most likely offset. If you placed it with perfect orientation, I'm sure addon would attactch.

Use Starforge, it has the addon without having the base building.

Err yes, but the building doesn't attactch so you cant get the units from the bulding that require addon.

WHy dont you jsut enable the unit in the settings... if thats possible, i have no access to an editor now so i MAY be wrong...

some units require buildings, you cant disable that requirement... yet...

What yet? You never will unless you use StarGraft (modding tool)

maybe starcraft will have another editor that can do that w/o modding
Report, edit, etc...Posted by NerdyTerdy on 2004-08-23 at 22:18:22
Well you actually don't need a starport if you use Xtra to place the add on its a rather interesting feature.

There are only a certain amount of things that are not hard-coded into the game engine. The best you might wish for is that they make a Battlenet where you can host MODs and they players download and run the MPQ required.

When is the new SCM Draft 2 version coming out? And why when I try to place more buildings it goes all StarEdit on me and says "SCMD2 has deleted 947 unplacable units?" It only happens when I try to place units.
