We now have 50k posts, and almost 900 members (which most will be deleted soon anyway). If you check this month, there was 12,696 posts in 2/3rds of the month.

I'd say thats a pretty hefty forum, and I talk to a couple of the moderators pretty much daily.
For the really big forums though you would look at sites like fark.com or /.

Everyone who hasn't logged in for 4 months gets deleted because they aren't using their account. I'm sure it'll go to like 600 or 500.
