Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Selection Trigger Wont Work
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowSnipe4 on 2004-08-24 at 18:50:41
For some reason this trigger works if I have it like this
Players
Force 1
Conditions
current player brings exactly 1 civilian to select sniper
Actions
Kill all civilian at Select Sniper for current player
Create 1 Sniper at Spawn for current player

But i want it to only work once and with that it works several times so I tried
Players
Force 1
Conditions
current player brings exactly 1 civilian to select sniper
Player 5 brings exactly 1 Sniper to select sniper
Actions
Kill all civilian at Select Sniper for current player
Kill all Sniper at Select Sniper For player 5
Create 1 Sniper at Spawn for current player

P.S. i put the sniper owned by player 5 in the location sniper and player 5 is nuetral. Also sorry bolt forgot about that.

So I ask you how do I get the Trigger to work for only one player.

Whats your question? Could you be a little more descriptive please.

why dont you just do give sniper owned by p5 to current player.

Because location 'spawn' isn't location 'select sniper'.

Ok, thats cool it just cought me off gaurd.

Oh you edited the first post now lol.

The second trigger should work the way you listed it. Perhaps you wrote it down wrong. What happened when you tried that if you say it didn't work.

You can use switches...

Okay I found the problem, it was that for some reason when the unit sniper's owner was p5 in the trigger it wouldnt work. I tried it so that instead of p5 it was all players and it worked. Thanks anyways though.

Of course, there are a 100 ways of doing it. I want to know why he thinks what he has listed doesn't work.

Edit: Just read your last post, Is p5 in the same force as the humans or something? I have no idea what your talking about.

It did nothing. The civilian just sat there.

what do you mean
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (U)Bolt_Head on 2004-08-24 at 19:09:09
Well...

There are 100+ differant ways you could make the trigger only firce once.

You didn't explain anything about what happened when you tested the map other than saying that it doesn't work. The only reason why it wouldn't work (that i can think of), would be if player 5 was in the same force as the human players. Cause then player 5's trigger would fire instead and none of the human players triggers would fire.

Sorry for confusion. Player 5 was in a different force other than the human players and nothing was happening, all the units were in the right place and when I brought my civ to the location after changing it it worked, I have no idea why it worked after I changed it but it works so I'm happy.

"Ya I did delete it so I could change the thread title."
Why not just rename the thread...?
That would be a lot faster and better... O_o

You can rename the thread? blink.gif

No only some one with Mod powers can rename threads. Once you become a regular (300+ post) you can delete your own post and threads.

Well shadowsnipe thats the differance between you and me. Your only looking for a way to acomplish what you want when I'm trying to figure out what went wrong. If you could change it back and attach the map i would like to look at it. So far no one has learned anything from this.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by ShadowSnipe4 on 2004-08-25 at 01:25:06
Well I experimented with it and found out that it wasnt just the player 5, it messed up later and then I found out that the condtion was current player brings exactly one civ to location when it should be brings at least 1 civ to location, because the first time it went wrong because that meant that all the players in the force had to bring a civ to the location in order for it to fire s then I changed that and walla that was the problem.

Your reasoning doesn't make since to me.

I understand what your saying but thats only if i follow assumptions that i know are incorrect.

Force triggers fire seperatly for each player. Saying current player brings exactly 1 civ to location will work even if each player has a civ there. As long as the player fireing the trigger doesn't have more than one at that location.

I'm sorry about making a big deal about this, its just that the guess and check method doesn't satisify me. Will you post the map for me please?
