What does Fog of war layer do exactly? Originally i thought that when you remove the fog for a player he could see anywhere he explored withouth having a unit there. For example, if player 1 has fog of war disabled for the entire map, and has an observor in the middle he would see everything in the middle. When that observor is removed or dies, he can still see whats happening in the middle even though he has no unit there. I made a map that disabled fog for player 1. However, he still gets the fog of war whenever a unit leaves the area. So if someone could explain the fog of war it would be much appreciated. Thanks
It just lets the real black fog of war go away, but the like shade will always be there, like the stuff you can see throuhg.
Fog of war is like having an area already visited, so if you play melee and scout around and leave an area, you know the terrain, and buildings there, but not the location of any units or new buildings. Its just like having explored without doing it already.
if you actively want to see the units and such at a locatoin, put a map revealer for taht player there
Don't spam Odd Angel.
But the thing about the Fog of War layer is that you can see the buildings below the "fog" at the start of the game without having a unit there. This is useful if you want to be able to see the terrain, but you don't want the player to have a unit there himself.
getting rid of the fog of war at a certain area does NOT reveal the units there! remember that it is usually for showing terrain and building placements
Its not the most useful thing
fog of war is useless to me i never use it
it could be useful if you want to show a specific building or pinpoint on the map but not show whats surrounding it.
it has some uses... just not a lot

It has basically the same affect as creating and killing observers or something of the sort (not map revealers cause they're a pain in the ass to kill), since it actually shows the location as if there was no fog there first than puts the fog over it shows the buildings. But if you dont want them to see teh buildings just create them a few seconds into the game instead of preplacing.

Well, basically, its the same but you have a lot more control over the precise size that's revealed and it doesn't have to be a circular area.
True, but I meant more the affect of what you see, like you'll see the buildings and such it won't just show the terrain.
Well, it can be better for maps that let you see the entirety of them, but only so you can see terrain.
Why do I say this?
I hate how in so many Rp's, I play it, and the mini-map is full of squares and the game is lagging like

, then I get the waiting for player screen for a while, then I see a

load of explosions.
