Ive decided to start map making right now... What editor should i download?
And What is the basic triggers? etc tell me what to know...
DONT TELL ME TO READ README
just tell me here... i hate read readmes
play with the original starcraft campaign editor, later on progress into
Starcraft X-tra Editor 2.5
then later on when u get really good
Starforge
There's all sorts of programs you can get. What I did is download almost everything, after a few people pointed me in the right direction...
Map Error: WinMPQ
Map Editor: Starcraft X-Tra Editor 2.5
Starforge
SCMDraft 2 (Square Tiles)
At the original editor i cant make the triggers i want to make...
At the others i dont know how to make them T_T
I suggest doing some serious reading (if you don't like to read then some serious experimenting)
There is way to much to explain and it would take a lot more time to tell it to you when you could easily experiment and find out yourself.
You are obviously very new, which in the long run might be good considering you might have some fresh ideas.
you can do a lot of stuff in the old editor!!!!
the only differences are
some triggers, unit placement, upgrades and terrain.
it may seem a lot but it isnt

you gotta crawl before you walk
What type of map are you aiming for? Bound? Defense? RPG?
I recommend looking through the maps you want to make and
look at the triggers. Thats how I learned how to make maps.
Plus, unless you're going to make a bound, or a defense with
special effects, oh and if you abo:censored:ely NEED colors, regular
staredit (starcraft capmaign editor, the one that came with
starcraft) is a fine editor. But if you need colors, or enhanced AI
scripts, it is possible to make a good map in staredit. Just to learn
basic commands and the such.
hes a newb trying to learn the simple stuff
just let him experiment with making maps
thats how i started
Go to the map making tricks and help archive and check out what each trigger does.
Then make simple crap like blizzards campaign missions.

He is a beginner, not an average or advanced, those are just tips and tricks that he will learn later on, after he starts experimenting.
If your a newb, download xtra and starforge. I would then go on bnet and play some maps. Then I would open up xtra and open the maps I just played and check the triggers to see how the maps work.
except for the fact that most maps are PROTECTED!

I didnt say read the whole archive. I said go to the part that tells you what each trigger does. How advanced do ya have to be.
If you need triggers just steal them from other maps thats how i got started and learned So jusy steal map triggers by svaing them
Note that there is also SCMDraft....but that's advanced too and currently has no trigger editor..

Campaign aren't easy. They have to be very carefully balanced and have a witty storyline. Easy would be a madness.

use starforge instead of scmdraft cuz scmdraft is really buggy
When I started mapping, all I had was StarEdit.exe. Then it was Emrald for a few years. I would say learning the basics, then putting in the professional fancy stuff. You don't give someone a pile of bricks and materials then tell them to build a house. I would rather play something made in regular StarEdit than some map made by a noob in a fancy editor that uses the advanced stuff to make it even more horrible.
