Ok in my next snipers map, I will be trying new ideas of radar. There are some options:
1) Turn off shared vision.
2) Always center view on your sniper.
3) Turn on shared vision.
4) Don't put center view on your unit.
As for minimap pings...
Should I minimap ping:
1) Your teammates
2) Your enemies
3) Where somebody has died
Any ideas?
By Turn off vision, do you mean with yourself or with your teamates. I think I'd like it to have it always center view on yourself. As for minimap pings, Those might get anoying. But if you don't have vision with your allies you could ping your teamates.

When I say turn off vision, I mean with your teammates. If you turn off vision by yourself... it's stupid.
If you spam minimap pings it gets annoying, so I'll only have them at important times.
The problem with the center view on yourself is the "earthquake" effect. If someone looks a bit to the side, it'll shake very rapidly...
Hum i liked this idea:
-Turn off shared vision with teammate
-minimap ping and a "Bip Bip Bip" on the near ennemies
Here are some combos:
1) Open Radar Style - Shared Vision On, Center View On, Ping Kills
2) Open Realistic Style - Shared Vision Off, Center View Off, Ping Teammates
3) Realistic Radar Style - Shared Vision Off, Center View On, Ping Teammates
4) Arcade Style - Shared Vision On, Center View Off, Ping Kills
5) Most Realistic Style - Shared Vision Off, Center View On, Ping Nothing
I'm leaning on #1 and #3.
#5 would be for hardcore realistic players...
Maybe have the players choose which option at the beginning of the map.
i like the ping at death w/o vision of teammates
Give players a Reaver where building a Scarab toggles between pinging allies and enemies.
or seiging a tank
or droping a unit
I think u dont ally vision ur allies and ping where someone died
and if u made it Bald Locks that would be intrestign ^_^ (killing ur own teammate)
I'd ping your allies when they die. You can use the base death trigger and just add a location and a ping. Though not having teamates that vision you is kinda screwy, it could be interesting, so good luck. I believe yoshi made a map that you couldnt see yourself in.
Uhm, interesting concepts...
I believe that in the
Shifters campaign (by Judas_Cloud), an UMS 1, the player was allied with an A.I. n' it worked fine. It has a bit of modding in it (*.exe file) but no big fuss...

Maybe I'll test these options in 1 of my maps, under development, and tell u what I felt about it.

Shared Vision seems an interesting option, maybe have it only on for a few seconds and then removed, or just MiniMap it. Second options sounds the better!
I think you should somehow make it so that the radar is a "motion" sensor like Halo...it could be easily done...
If you center view your sniper it will be alittle bit shaky, unabling you to click on the enemy fast enought...
i think your radar should be the one in halo's, it's really cool, enemies are represented with red dots and teamates with red so you know who's whom when some one gets near by...
If you do use a radar system i think it would be cool to use a mini map ping on all the players snipers

I would use Center View on Snipers and...
Ping allies.
