Beacon system would be that you move your civillian on a beacon and then that spell casts. It is a few seconds delay to cast the spell, plus you have to center your screen on him, which may get slightly annoying.
Advantages: Less units are used, which allows more spawns in the actual gameplay.
Disadvantages: Few second delay, have to move away from your base unit for a few moments.
Shuttle/Dropship would be something along the lines of having about 8 units in a shuttle, and you drop the unit (which is labelled with a spell) that you want to cast. For example, I'd drop a Zergling to cast Mana Shot.
Advantages: Quick spell response and the spell menu is right there
Diadvantages: Less units to use in gameplay
Building units would be like having a barracks, which can create a marine medic firebat and ghost. You would create a marine to cast spell X, medic to cast spell Y... you get the drift.
Advantages: Quick spell response, more units to use in-game.
Disadvantages: The units are not labelled as spells, 1/2 second delay.
Whichever one gets the highest vote will be implemented into my spell system.
I think a better way to determine this is actually think about how many units you will be using and which one will fit rather than asking which one is out favourite

I'm estimating about twenty to thirty units.
i like the dropship style style/system the best, it gives you a real rpg feeling with turn base system and it's a lot easier to cast spells or attacks than the beacon system.
I use beacons because it is simpler for noobs and much more well know to the general community.
I voted null because it depends on the circumstance
Remember you could just have any unused units from your Map in different Dropships/Overlords/Overlord(hero)/Shuttles at different locations, and have them repeated, and it would still work!
The dropship spell system because you can have the names and the possibilities are almost unlimited.
The building system has a limited use and you can't tell what something will build.
Null, it all depends...
So 20-30 units in your map... ?
if it were that little... id use ds method...
Use dropship method.
It's faster and you can see what spell you're choosing.
Besides... unless your gonna have a trigger for each beacon... you'd use the same amoutn of units as the dropship... as opposed to the beacon
:/...I'm the only one who likes the building system.
You COULD just have the Unit : Spell in the mission objectives, or on a beacon. It might take a little bit to check out which unit is which spell, but if you have a good memory you only need to check it once.
I say depends on the map how you want the player to use it.
Yea the dropships is best but noobs probabally won't get how to use it...

i like it... jsut some newbs dont know how to use it...
Just tell the newb to drop the unit that casts that spell.
Noobs don't get ANY spell system besides moving units to beacon. Don't bother making maps that lower to their standards.
People will actually leave JUST for the dropship system. It's happened to me. But I think if enough people make makes with dropship system they'll eventually learn to use it.
i like beacons cause they are easy to make and use
i like building cause you can just use a text to tell what they do,
and so it dousnt take up units names or usage

Beacons take up space and buildings can't show what your making. The buildings can move if it's terran if you need but with dropship you have unlimited ways to go and it can move anywhere unless you don't want it to.
Beacon system is plain and simple. Nothing fancy involved. I guess that makes it the best in some cases. Unfortunately, it uses a lot of locations (and strings for location names).
Dropship system is great... IF IT WORKS. I used such a system in LoH to great success, but when I tried to use it again for a different map, the 'Enter Transport' AI script was inconsistent. You may not run into this problem, but be warned: If this happens, it is extremely hard to fix without redoing your entire map. The sad thing is that it's not your fault! Starcraft AI scripts tend to act weird for no apparent reason sometimes.
Right now, I like the building system the best. The only thing that I don't like about it is the fact that you can't change the unit name in the build tree. It's certainly been a lot less frustrating than the dropship system has been.
its all about the map your using. I personally think the beacon one no matter what sucks though in most cases, unless its turn based.
I hate the beacon system because the civic walks crooked and sometimes goes on the wrong beacon. It also has a few seconds delay. I like the building unit spells. The creator just needs to say what units are what spells in the brief.
Its not good to have mission critical breifings... people tend to skip the breifing... have it so it says it in the beginning of gameplay...
