Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> How to make the computer stack?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-06 at 12:15:46
I need to know how to be able to make the computer how to stack for itself.

Like when u build a sunken colony, the computer centers location on it, and then creates a spire right on it.

i can tell this is possible i can just tell but i cant get it to work!

I think dabbu did something like this in his map, with some rocks. Maybe should ask someone like Yoshi, Dabbu, Bolt_head or DK (deathknight)

Where is Dabbu anyway? He hasnt been on for a long time...

You caould make the computer do stuff step by step, like telling it to move a peon to x location. Moving the civilian to the unvison beacon...
Doing stuff like that.

I'm not sure about how to exactly do it, but it has something to do with telling the pc what to do, the pc can't do it on it's own.

I think the units have to be preplaced. You can stack those as much as you want.

Computers can't stack. As far as I know, they cannot unvison with themself, and even if they could you cannot order a probe to build at a specific location to my knowledge. Try pre-placing all your units.

THis is how you do it, this is only with triggers not the computer actually building anything.

Ok from the start place a bunch of units like maybe 2 nexus's stacked in starforge. Right at teh beginning remove one of them at teh location and create a sunken there. Since you just removed the nexus it makes the ground buildable. Then remove the other nexus and create a spire.

You could do tons of things to in this way or do this a different way, the moral of the story is you can stack with triggers as long as you had a building there previously just removed. Only thing you cant do is remove like 5 buildings at once and create 5 buildings there, only 1 at a time.

Try having computer unvision with self then run insane AI at 2x2 location. Or does that not work?

i'm pretty sure all that you need to do is center a location, remove the sunken, create a spire at the location. no waits and hypertriggers arer needed. ik that this works

But they want the sunken to stay, you can't remove it, hence stacking.

Well you could make a human player stack and give it to the computer biggrin.gif

Not the most reliable thing, but it works.

ive seen the stack before in this stacked units game or watever u call it, its like the marine is right on top of another and u can both move them and they still stay stacked, and when i went to block the enemy from comin past my marine wall they walked right through my marines as if the marines were ghosts.

Yea I've seen that it's kinda cool, it's done by disable/enable/enable I think, off in a sepereate area of the map. But this guy wants computers to stack buildings on their own.

All I could think would be to shut the computers vision off with itself and run a script, see what happens.

As of right now there is no current way that you can stack with triggers.

You cannot create a building where another building is or you will get a placement error. [period]

Yes you can.

Place 2 buildings stacked in the editor. Remove 1 immediatly at the start with a trigger and create another building right after the first 1 is removed. The buildings will stack.

OK, im sorry, I've been misunderstood.

As of right now there is no current pratical way that you can stack with triggers.

If you wanted the buildings stacked in the first place you can just do it in the editor. Save your space on triggers. tongue.gif

Basically they can't stack by building stuff, like a human could. Only way would maybe have it detect if the computer built something and combine it with what I said before and create the building on top of something else.

But yea nothing practical.
