Make them do research online to get pass parts. ( LOL )

Shut off vision for all the humans with everyone. Or at least themselves and the other humans.

Make it so they have to concentrate hard to do a "problem" ( or whatever, can't think of a name for it, maybe a thingy), and when they are at the peak of concentration, make the whole map seem to explode and go back to normal... That might help tongue.gif

Play some really annoying death sound constantly in the background, or find some scary noises and play them randomly.

If you play Silent Hill, you'll get some ideas.

I still like my idea better and make it random...

Make the sound very low volume but very important so they turn up the volume and try to concentrate. Then when they do, you make this very scary part/sound!

Background ambient music, the occasional scream and I have a pretty scary scream that would be good for when a good guy dies. Also, you might want to have a gurgling and the corny "Brains..." wave in the background. If you shoot me an e-mail I will see if I can find any sounds for ya. (StardogProd@Netscape.net)

Probably one horror map has scared me so far. I went into a room and the guy who made the map screamed into the mic, and blasted my ears. Yeah, that's scary because it's unexpected. In every other horror map, it's same old, same old.

Thats the lame way of doing it. Anyone can put a unexpected high pitch scream in there map. Whats better, jumping up in fear for a moment or shivering from fear the entire time your playing. You need to define your goal.

Silent Hill... Oh i love that game for PS1...

Add enemies killing a person then if you go near it the enemies then attack you and the person who died wakes up as a zombie Yay

Just spice up a good storyline and music.
Try to make the player feel isolated.

Make it so that after a set amount of time a zergling will run into the vision around your unit for about 1 second. While it's in the vision make like a screeching scary sound like a monster is coming.

Also when a player goes into a dead-end or something put a flushing toilet sound.

Usually, like in movies, what i think makes things scary is if the "scary thing" is sort of like a ghost; it has no tangable form (sort of like the exorcist). So really to make a horror map i would add lots of Dts and maybe some observers since they sort of resemble "shadows." But yes, eerie music in the background works best

I think a horror map needs suspense which could be created with eerie music and have it so like you think something is gonna pop out and kill you but its really nothing like in scary movies but then just as your relieved the real thing happens

you should have a ling running around but all players should be allied with it... have no shared vision between your allies but say something in beginning like ALL PLAYERS STAY TOGETHER!! but have one of the players really the monster like the thing i guess... but maybe a different form than a ling.. but also have weapons that you can pick up to combat the fake evil monster even though its really an ally

turn off vision between players
ally players to everything (they'll contentrate on fireing then)
play some creepy music
and do some fast, loud explosions/sounds once in a while
should help.
