Is there a way to give a unit away to a player and the unit changing its colour? Then everyone controls it? Like u control it one second, then, he control it, then the next person, etc...

Just keep giving it to a different player:

Trigger
Conditions:
¤ Whatever you want
Actions:
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 1
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 2
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 3
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 4
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 5
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 6
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 7
¤ Give all unit at location to Player 8
¤ Preserve trigger.

Like that, I mean you could go and put some wiats in between each action.

I don't think I really get what you're trying to do though, so thats probably not it.

Constantly giving a unit to another player makes it unclickable.

THats why I said to put some wiats in there.

It depends on the waits. It would be easyer to have a countdown timer, so people know when units switch.

Your not suppose to click it... When you give a unit to a player that was owned by another unit it auto changes colour right?

yea color changes with all units except for flags I think.

But could you try to say what you're exactly trying to do, I still don't understand.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by eXile5 on 2004-09-07 at 16:47:30
Yes, units change color. Except flags, and maybe other units that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-09-07 at 16:50:46
Also powerups don't change they're actual color just what they're color is on the minimap.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by eXile5 on 2004-09-07 at 16:53:29
Powerups are different. They don't really show any color on them except the mini-map. <_<;

Except Psi Emitter.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-09-07 at 16:54:44
I guess taht's why flags don't change since they are powerups after all.

Cool this could be my idea for my map... A new kind of defense! Undeniable always attacking unclickable and unmovable yours and not defense!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-09-07 at 19:06:39
So it won't be a defense but it will be a defense, I still don't get what gave you any idea from this htread though.

Wait, unless you mean the unit changing ownership... hm

Only problem, I'm not 100% about this but I think that give a unit to another player forces it to acquire a new target, not sure, but I think it's similar to moving a unit.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Stereo on 2004-09-07 at 19:50:37
Yea, i'm pretty sure it won't attack right if you do this.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by LegacyWeapon on 2004-09-07 at 19:51:22
Actually, I just experimented on this a little while ago.
Changing ownership constantly makes the unit not attack.
Also it makes a cool effect of blending the color of the two players and making a new color (or so I think). -edit- nvm, I accidentally had random start location -_-;;
Look at this map and check it out.

PS. How come you guys never test things before you post eh? It's always spam when you do that...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-09-07 at 20:05:23
It's not spam if you already know, or are like 99% sure of your self, anything less and it is. And it's not spam if you guess and end up being right, at least in my opinion its not.

But then we have a conclusion: changing ownership forces a unit to acquire a new target, thus, it can't attack if ownership is changed constantly.

You still need to have waits if you want the color changes to show up. If you have a unit selected while it changes players it will deselect itself., so using any kind of small increment of time would make it so players could not control the unit.

If there computer controled (with triggers) then you will still need alot of time between changes of player to allow them to attack (not much but still some) and even if you give them time to attack changing there player will slow them down. So you might end up with every unit in the group attacking at the same time if they attack at all, dependant on the leanth of time waited.

Which isn't that useful, and more annoying than you can believe! I use that when i don't want units controlled.

Also if you have a large location, and a limit to how many units/buildings are given, it will select from the Top Left downwards.

Maths style: y=-x
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Stereo on 2004-09-08 at 16:55:21
Bottom left actually, for buildings at least.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by (U)Bolt_Head on 2004-09-08 at 19:24:56
Units are picked from bottom left too. I have never managed to figure out why people think it starts from the top.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gowr on 2004-09-09 at 21:40:30
If I didn't need help, I wouldn't have posted this up... But I do need help and I guess I have to put in waits for it to attack... Gotta try and see how long I need...

Oh... when the unit changes control and it becomes deselected because its a "new" unit, does it become a new target or the same target for someone attacking it? I'm assuming that they become a new target...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-09-09 at 21:44:20
No I don't think they'd become a new target. It works like moving a unit, moving a unit forces it to acquire a new target itself, but I don't think anything attacking it would have to stop. So basically I'm saying no, it's the same unit after all, just different owner, but you might wanna test it also.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Gowr on 2004-09-10 at 16:26:09
Ooo._.ooO So if you set the trigger so there's a wait, it will be able to attack, but if the unit changes possession the enemy won't have to get a new lock... My StarEdit aint working right now and I'm not using my PC so... No clue if it would work...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-10 at 16:37:35
Changing the player over and over, or moving it (not ordering) over and over makes it not be attacked, and never attack. (if with hyper triggers)
