where do you guys put the maps when you download it or when you extract the file from winzip, does that affect the quality of the map? Because a lot of maps I downloaded didn't work.

You have to put them in Starcraft/Maps folder or one of its subfolders. As long as you can open them, they should work.

And what are all those numbers infront of of the file name ( [#])? do they mean something? does it keep the file from working? helpsmilie.gif

No...the numbers for instance: map[2].scx the [2] means how much times you downloaded it it..in this case two times. There was a problem with the downloads database but I think Yoshi fixed it

That's the file's ID number. The DLDB assigns a number to every file in order to organize itself. But, I don't know why that's showing up when you download it. :/

The ID helps me organize the directory and increases security (its impossible to overwrite other files). For some reason, dynamic renaming isn't working. Which is why you cannot edit or add files, but downloading is okay because i disabled the renaming until it is resolved.

ok thx, so if I delete the id# everything would work fine?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Yoshi da Sniper on 2004-09-08 at 14:11:11
Yes. If theres a corruption error, its usually caused by the filename being too long, from the script adding [###]. Deleting it should work.

If that doesn't work, please tell me what file is causing the trouble.

The Dungeons and dragons rpg is readable but when I started the game player 2,3, and 4 was eliminated and I couldn't play the game. Can anyone who has played the game give me suggestions?

it might be your connections lost... or its an irregular map... size....
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-09-08 at 18:31:09
Were players 2, 3, and 4 human players, and if it was an irregular map size you can play it by first playing a normal sized map in that session of running starcraft.

O and there might of been a unit of the edge of the map, that causes problems too.

I don't play the map on battle.net so that can't be my problem and when I opened the map on staredit they said 200 something units were invalid and have to be deleted, I think it worked for other players and they gave good reviews for the map, I think it's just something that happens to me.

Did you save the map after opening it in staredit? Cause if you did those 200 some odd units were deleted.

Try never to open maps in staredit, mostly starforge, maybe scxe if thats all you got.

rpgs are boring most times anyways.

Trust me you probably just don't realize they're working right. Why the heck are you opening them maps in staredit anyways, what are you trying to steal them?!?!?!

Just play stuff online there are plenty of rpgs there,

If I got a really good map I probably won't know how to steal them and I opened them up because I don't think it's working right.

And battle.net has like no rpgs, all they do is where there are a lot of resources and they just build stuff and see whos the fastest and kill each other (I hate that btw, there are a lot of cheaters!)

ADDITION: nvm, I figured out what I did wrong... Lock it up.
