Tank Defense: Generals

Generals:
5 different general choices.
Lurker, Ghost, Zealot, Scout, Goliath.
Each hero will have different units for support.

Ranks (1-6)
First rank is just the hero by itself.
2nd rank is added attack and more units
3rd rank is added attack and more units
4th rank is added attack and more units
5th rank is added attack and statis feild
6th rank is a special secret

Units:
Zergling - will act like a proximity land mind. Ground only
Hydralisk - same as zergling but with a larger proximity and blast radius. Ground only
Defiler - Dark swarm will create a swirling vortex that sucks enemy units into the center of the swarm. Once burrowed it will make explostions in a single line in one direction the length of the side its used on. It just depends on where it's at.
Gaurdian - Similar to the land mines but works for air and ground.
Devourer - Same as above with larger radius.
Observer Bomb: Air/Land proximity mine.
Overmind: Creates statis movement field.
All these units can be purchased at the players demolition shop (Hatchery).

Hero spells:
Each hero will have 1-4 spells. This idea is still on the drawing board so I can't give ideas for the spells just yet. The spells will be mainly used for level bosses.

Buildings:
Telecom(comsat): Will enable intel. Intell will warn players what unit is coming next and offer suggested course of action.

Wall/Cannon: Build pylons to make a maze that units have to go through. Player will be able to build cannons for support as well.

More building may be added at a later date.

Team spells: A choice of several spells that will add to each players kill score. Whether or not the points will be added to the player who initilized the spell or the team is still under consideration.

Availible Team spells:
Air Raid: Scouges will go down the path and damage every air unit they touch.
Bomber Raid: Scouts the will move from one end of the path to the other, dropping spider mines as they go.
Ion Cannons Blast: Ion cannon blast that will explode all paths, and the entire size of the path.
Demo expert: Infested marine, upon death will spawn 4-5 spidermines around it.

More Team spells may be added at a later date.

All spells of any sort will do partial damage. All landmines/explotions will do a certain % of damage.

Statis feild explanation:
Certain units in the game offer this. Few heroes will attain this ability at certain ranks. Statis feild will draw a unit to the unit with this ability. The field will be small and be upgraded upon getting a new rank.

Sheild Destroyer field:
Only one hero will have this ability. Anything that come in the radius of this feild will automatically lose its sheilds.

New Special unit: Don't want to give it away but here is a hint: It uses tanks and marines or firebats. smile.gif

This map is still in the production phase. New ideas may be added as production continues. Tell me what you think about this. If you have any ideas for hero spells post them. Thanks in advance.

ANOTHER defence??? i mean, i think defence games are overrated, cuz all it is killing stuff, at least, rpgs, are alright, BUT if ur going wit a defence game urs sounds pretty good (i guess) pinch.gif

Ya, I know. Defense games are usually pretty boring. But thats what I am into right now. I have actually never made a different type of map. This one will help me to make an rpg. I will have to set up a whole bunch of stuff I am not familiar with like grid systems, spell systems and level up systems. All in all it should be fun to make.

Sounds better than the defense maps out there.

Why is it called tank defense if the general choices none are tanks?

ya i think defence games arent that bad, i was harsh cuz im kinda well, MAKING 1... im like the equivallent of a peanut... seriusly chair.gif but again, ANOTHER DEFENCE?!?!

TnTProductions does not have a webpage up yet. I am still trying to get an interview with Suicidal Instanity and Hemi for some content. The forums is up, but really in its beta. I used proboards. If the forums gets enough traffic I will eventually buy some webspace and make my own from php.

About the name. I called it Tank Defense because you will start out with tanks and heroes. I have made some up-dates on the hero spells but I don't have them on this computer. My lead design engineer has all the offical documents about hero spells and stuff. Right now the map is using 189 locations and I still haven't made a grid system yet. The link to TnTProductions forums are in my profile I think. It's not souly a starcraft forum, but that is where the most posts will occur. I just moved and haven't had time to update the content so some of the maps listed in the starcraft section will be outdated (completed or scrapped). Feel free to post there anytime.

My thoughts about Tank Defense Generals.

I think it will raise the bar for defense games. Introducting heroes and a spell system would be unique (I have never played a defense with those elements that I can remember).

All in all though, you are all right.....it's just another defense.

Well, to late. I e-mailed or pm'ed them I think yesterday. If they are not interested they will probably just not reply. Thats too bad though..... cry.gif

I guess I will just have to search for every thread either of them posted and see what kinds of info I can get from them.

Hey i just found sumthin that kinda confuses me. How does a guardian work 4 ground and air? it can only attk ground units... u have an editor that changes it or sumthin? i just dont understand (no its not cuz im slow)

The gaurdian will not actually attack ground and air. The idea is that it will have explotions that follow it for a short time which will effect ground and air units. There are a lot of explotions that will be going on in this map. The demo I have set up for the scout bombers and the ion cannon blasts look awesome.

Each hero will have 3 spells. Rank 1 spell will attack continuously at a fast rate but do minimal damage in a small radius. Rank 2 spell will attack continuously at a slower rate but will do greater damage. Rank 3 spell will attack continuously at the slowest rate but do maximum damage.

The spells will just be explotions. Rank 1 spell will be a single horizontal line of explotions. Rank 2 spell will be a horizontal and verticle line of explotions. Rank 3 spell will be a box shaped explotion.

Players will be able to decide whether or not to upgrade damage their heroes do or buy special attack units.

Do you think I should let the players choose which spells they want to use, when they want? I can see that being forced to use a rank 3 spell, attacking at the slowest speed can almost cancel out the attack damage that the heroes will get. I think that if players use a rank 1 spell with a good attack bonus it could be more powerfull than a rank 3 spell. I don't know...what do you guys think?

The difficulty of it would be moderate to extremely difficult. I think the only thing that makes this an extremely difficult map is that players will be able to do soo many things. Upgrade heroes, buy more units, use spells, use special attacks, buy floor traps, use and set up many different kinds of traps.
