im trying to play with a friend against 3 computers. my problem is i can't figure out how to get the start locations to stay the same. then when i did figure it out and use map settings, the computer doesnt start out with any forces. what kind of triggers, forces split up would i have to do to get the map to work.
Uncheck "Random Start Location" in the forces window.
Set forces 3 on 3 all human, go to meele, uncheck random start, then switch slots ot computer in melee. If you want it in UMS, you have to preplace comp units and use AI scripts.
Make sure you set the computers for Computer and they don't have triggers to make them lose instantly, also, don't ahve a trigegr remove all neutral units in the beginning of a gmae, because it will remove all units if it is the first trigger. Atleast in my experience it does.
why does it start the comp out with no men
Because in UMS, computer start location don't spawn units.
Be sure to uncheck "random start location" for all forces, not just the ones you think you need to have it unchecked for. It solves problems.
Also, do you mean to say that the computers don't ally with each other when you say that they are splitting forces?

To those giving help:
- Read posts carefully and understand them before you post. Otherwise, you're no help to anyone and should get out of the Assistance forum.
Owned.

if the cpu are unallied, they will b attking each other, but u can ally them in like melee map and make them only atk u
You will have to preplace units on their start location because computers don't start with a main building and 4 harvesters, as stated above. So just place a CC and 4 SCVs on the start. Then you will need to run an AI Script over the comps base. Make sure the location you use is over their main building and that the trigger is owned by the computer player. Use the scripts like Terran Campaign Insane and stuff like that.
in melee there is no way of playing it without random locations. you need to put ums and run an ai script for thing. also preplacing the units. like what Vin said. Period.
Or you could use a randomizer to pick a race for the computer and create the stuff and run a script.
Go to the forces window and uncheck th random start box. That should fix it. It is always random in melee.
Argh, SHUT UP. He said he already unchecked it and this is the third time this "information" was posted. Thank you.
DT, please. You're not making yourself any better by pointing it out. Use the "Report" feature, and let the mods do their job without you benefiting from it. Nobody should have to read his crap, or yours. I'll just fine both of you a hundred minerals.
Fine. I'm just trying to make him stop, I dont care about minerals.
Whatever. I think he's got enough info about Start Locations to keep himself busy for awhile.
