It would be a mix of a Role Playing Game, with different style of techniques not commonly featured within Starcraft itself, such as the use of DarkSwarm for attack or such, so it would be a long term RPG with Trigger Enhancements to create differences.

Wrong Forum, I believe this belongs in either A)map making assistance, B)Garbage, or C)ideas & Recruitment.

Will a Mod plz stand up?

I don't care about wrong forum, (let a Staff say that tongue.gif )

I think either RPG or Defense, in Defense it would depend on what it's based on and how you play it, like LoOny Defense [v1.0], that map requires alot of skill to make because of the Shuttle trick with more options, etc. but in an RPG i think even requires skill to make the smallest of an RPG, Legacy of Haean looks like it would take alot of skill to create, but a small RPG like (don't know any) still requires alittle bit of skill... In a Bound, the triggers are the same, just Create/Kill/Wait/Preserve... no skills required,
But RPG actually use advanced triggers work and systems to make it the best of what it could be...

It isn't map assistance, it could go in garbage, but it is related to Map Making as such, so seems acceptable here at present, just go with the flow!

Off topic:
Coko you're going to try and get a job in Blizzard Entertainment?

On topic:
I'm making a Metroid Prime 2: Echoes RPG (link to thread in my signature)
It's Battle System is probably one of best Battle Systems though of (Mp)3 is helping me with it also mellow.gif )... But yea, RPG are overall the hardest to make.
Sometimes Original can be as hard, depends on how you make it and what it is, just like a Defense.

Well.. bounds are hard to get INTO but once you get it, you can make them in a matter of hours... the hardest part of a just get units and kill defense is the buying units... then the terrain... mostly just busy work...

OK, among the available choices:

- Campaign: Trigger-wise, it's simple; storyline-wise, a campaign can be a pain in the butt, even more so than an RPG.
- Bound: Not too hard. Like VoidArchon(MC) said earlier, it's just create/kill/wait/preserve; there may be a few other things, like respawns, but those are also simple. There may or may not be some really complex bounds out there, by the way.
- Defense: It depends on what kind of defense you're making; it can be as simple as most bounds or as complicated as quite a few RPGs.
- Offense: WAY too simple.
- RPG: Hardest of all, for the reasons stated earlier.
- Sports Remake: Kinda like an RPG, but somewhat simpler.

RPGs by far, unless someone makes in a few hours because they are rushing it a lot. However, some campaigns can be hard too. Of course, these tend to be the best maps made.

By hard do you mean as in brain power, or as in lots of copying of triggers and stuff. I think RPGs are easy to make, they just require lots of time, same with bounds. Sports remakes would require you to come up with a good system, like that baseball. That map has much more complicated triggers than say, Elements RPG.

The hardest one to make, is a Unique Battle/PassWord System RPG that spans over X amount of diff maps.

RPG of course. In order to achieve a good RPG you have to be strong in all aspects of map making, as well as being creative and original.

I think he means hard as in lengthy and complex and a lot of balancing. Bounds are easy to make and take no brain power but take a while and are 'hard' on your pointer fingers. RPGs take a while to balance ans make work right and stuff.

I find campains hard to create because of lots of testing for hard or easy... and alot of maps to make and plus its loaded with too much work

The good thing is not many triggers sortof , Sometimes campain for only 1 player and no unit editing unless the maps based on a diffrerent story....

My campain map was sortof like r-Type with 5 ships but its sortof boring just a normal rpg but mini games are fun..... bUt... I sortof delete it pinch.gif

Think about it. When making defensive maps, like bunker defence, ect... Imagine how much switch triggers you have to put in. (assuming that it is a good defensive map, which I always go for good quality maps that last a while)

RPG definently, you have to add great terrain, great triggers, great sounds, great abalnce, great story, and great fun. You can't slack off in an RPG.

The hardest map to make is the one that hasn't been done before. GL pulling off one of those and getting people to like it.

Otherwise, I'd have to say RPGs typically. The other poll options are just cheese maps that I could make by the dozen (except maybe campaigns).

I concur, the hardest maps to make are concept maps.

i say movies. they require a lot of planning and testing. After each little scene you add in you have to test it pretty much. but rpgs r hard to but movies are by far the hardest(*my opinion)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by .matrix//Merovingian on 2004-09-18 at 02:30:56
How come "movie map" is not an option in this poll? Those are also hard to make in many cases.

P.S.- I'd really like to see Tuxedo Templar make a campaign.

Movie maps? lol
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kenoli on 2004-09-18 at 03:31:03
The hardest thing to make is something original.
-Bounds/defense, you just copy someone elses bound/defense and maybe add a few things, usually nothing original or hard to make.
-Campaigns need an interesting story and good missions, maybe with a few changes to unit stats or some triggers. A good story is very hard to design.
-A movie needs to be really interesting too. But you have to use lots of triggers to make it, so it could be pretty hard.
-An RPG needs a good story, have lots of interesting things for the players to do, and have a good layout and feel to it. I would say an RPG is the hardest to make, and the next would be a campaign or movie. And bounds are just bottom feeders. biggrin.gif

This topic is a lil too abstract for me. Everyone has their own definitions for things. Too bad there isn't a dictionary for labels.
