Teh Seekers
Current Version: Beta 05
Sep 19, 2004

For those of you who have seen this already, I'm giving it another thread. For those who are new, you have a new Beta map you can play.

So, basically, we've got a 32x32 grid of 2x2 squares, totaling 1024 squares. Inside that area, a randomized maze is generated. In that maze, is placed enemies, items, points, and a flag. You start at a corner... a randomized corner, if you couldn't guess. There is a Medic in the corner for healing, but it can't move. For those who played earlier versions, the entire maze generation has been reduced to only 25-30 seconds average. Should you get stuck in the maze, building a Nuclear Missile (Pulse Charge) at the Silo will allow you to break down the walls.

Items... You will only be able to carry 3 at one time, and a Drop option is available. Items are the only thing not reset after each round is over.
Here's the list. . .
Death Blade - Allows you to instant-kill one player. They respawn faster than a regular death and don't lose any points.
Red Wind - Sends all players back to their Starting points. Can't be used with the Flag.
Pulse Pack - Adds 200 Gas, the equivalent of two Pulse Charges. There is a limit of 400 Gas, though.
Uber-Shield - Heals you once about every 12 Hyper Trigger ticks, for 8 times. Essentially temporary "invincibility".
Trap Set - Lays a Spider Mine at your Location. 3 Mines per Set.
Quicksand - Slows down all other players. If they're being chased or something, they won't stand a chance.
Jewel - Carry 3 of these in your inventory at one time to get 200 Points.
Fun Box - Auto-uses a Random Item from the above items.

Points are scattered throughout the maze. At the beginning of the map, Player 1 can set how many points are needed to win, ranging from 500 to 10000 in increments of 250. Points come in four flavors: 2, 5, 7, and 12. When you die, you lose points. You can't go past the point maximum set at the start, though.

In the maze, guarded by a tough Muta is the Flag. Hold onto this until the end of the round, and you get a 250 point reward.

That's basically all there is to it. Get 4 people and have a funfest. It's about time I worked on this damn map again. tongue.gif

CheeZe, you didn't read. "At the beginning of the map, Player 1 can set how many points are needed to win, ranging from 500 to 10000 in increments of 250." I just used the minimum for testing purposes.
One complete cycle of generation uses 23 triggers. Most are not needed in recopying for speed.
As for the .zip, tough luck. I download to maps folder, hit "Open", cut the map, hit Up, and paste into maps directory. Not a very hard or long process. tongue.gif
And Sala is always criticizing maps. Leave him alone. The generation time was cut by about a third now. tongue.gif

~1000

I played the old beta version back in june/july. And it was great if smart people played, noobs always ruined it.

The map in single player really does get boring...

Honestly, you can have it generate the maze instantly if you do it the way I said. You are just lazy. LAZY! You never want to put in that extra little bit of work to make your map GOOD...!

...

It's still a good map regardless. But yeah, I do know how you could generate it instantly if ever you care to make a new version. Just so you know, this is one of the few original trigger maps I enjoyed playing (at least, while I wasn't getting spwned).

Fer'shizzle triggas
But the map is just boring

Boring? What are you guys doing, single player? This was NOT intended to be a single player map.

And do you realize what "instant" would take?
Let's do a mental run through of Sala's method. I have 32 columns, so bam, 32 locations. A set of triggers for each location, bam, over 300 triggers. And because you can't wait 30 seconds? Sala, that's not even enough time for you to masturbate.

But, if Tux has a better method, I'd be willing to hear that. tongue.gif

Good job moose, I am going to look forward to playing this as everything is RANDOMIZED.
