What do you want to know about starforge?

aaand i cant use the SCM toolkit for some reason it keeps saying there is an error or something...

Yeah...SCMToolkit used to give me a whole load of crappy errors. I don't really know how to fix that.

Basically StarFOrge is an advanced editor. It can place sprites, create square AND isometric terrain...has a text trigger editor instead of the regular kind of trigger editor (EX: SCXE). YOu can't place fog of war...you can stack units..there is a snap to grid feature. I recommend StarForge for creating triggers. Once you know how to use StarForge triggers....making triggers will be so much faster w00t.gif THe current version of STarFOrge is v2.1 which can be found in the Downloads DataBase (I think?) Oops forgot one more thing: YOu can place a unit for different players EX: p1,p2,p166 wink.gif And you can change player colors...edit forces. Well in summary StarForge is an advanced editor. You can also edit unit health to make kool wireframes. If you need help on StarForge...just ask biggrin.gif

to me starforge triggers is like writing code which i can do easily. I say for the average users just use it for the end touch ups or to add something cool later on....ooorrrrrr to make the terrain in squares and not diamonds

ok, to make wavs smaller, you use sound recorder, load wav, when saving, go to properties or options or whatever, and change the hertz menu thingy.

to make SIZELESS SOUNDS, you can ONLY use sounds from the cd. Use the program heimdal made, sizeless sounds or something, it's in the downloads database.. I will never understand how people think putting free sounds in maps is possible..well it's possible, but it won't play and it will take up extra string.

When Starforge makes isometric terrain, it screws up because everything is originally placed in tile so therefore the isometirc is all tile. Use scmdraft 2 for isometric terrain and square if you don't want to switch around.

If the sound you want is on the CD, just find it in the StarForge sound editor. They are .MPQ files and take up only the space for the file name, meaning it would need about a thousand sounds to notice any difference which is the amount of data for maybe having a marine on your map.

The program that Cheeze was referring to was SCFreeSounds by Heimdal. It should be in the database, so that is that. Also, if Starforge messes up your terrain, it means that you have the wrong version. Redownload it and reinstall. Also, if you are new aat map making, do not tamper with your triggers too much in Starforge, stick to Starcraft Extra, that is the most user friendly editor out there.

I meant an explanation for adding the WAVs to Starforge... I know what Starforge is lol! Otherwise I'd have posted a new topic named something along the lines of "Help me the helpless newb!".

In Starforge's Sounds section, there are folders with the sounds that I'm assuming Heimdal's program accesses as well.

So, could someone please post a step-by-step instruction for adding the sounds in Starforge?
