Starforge is technically the best but not for Newbies I would suggest that you start with starcraft Xtra editor and work your way up from there. Also, you can download it from this site and it works alot like the original but has way more cool stuff and the best way to learn is to try it out, if you get stuck learn a tutorial, and search the boards.

Best program for what?
Natural Terrain - Something other than Starforge
Square Terrain - Starforge
Triggers - Starforge
Unit Placement - Starforge
Everything else - Starforge

It also depends on your preference.

How do you run them? You... um... click on the button in the start menu? Of course, after you download and install them.

Start with normal campaign editor, maybe extra, then when you are ready to advance, use Starrforge with SCMdraft terraining.

I use two map editors, starforge for placing terrian, and then xtra edit for triggers.

I hope my input helps.

1. WTF is with all so colons?

2. OMG Satrforge triggers are faster and better than extra triggers. The only thing starforge is bad at is terraining.

ya dont use starforge to make terrain because itll mess up your map. i like scm draft 2 and xtra editor because i dont understand starforges triggs, no one will teach me them.

SF2 and scmdraft are pretty much equal in terraforming. scmdraft does isometric, square, rectangle, tileindex, and fog of war. ANd SF instead of having isometric, haas this weird isom but also you can customize the squares better with like 20x2 or something.

SF2 has the best triggering system, but its best to memorize them in X-tra before doing them in SF.

starforge is by way way by far the best map editor, but if your just starteding, play around on the regular star edit, then move to xtra editer then starforge

StarForge triggers are extremely simple. (Although they may seem confusing at start). The top of the trigger box is for the player the trigger is for...the middle is the condition box and the bottom is the action box. WHen you type something in the condition box...there will be a list of conditions...just choose one and then on top of the conditions box you will see text stating what must be put in between commas. First you have to type in the trigger name. Then you type in the parentheses and put the "variables" seperated by commas. Easy as that.
