Apply here if you want to be a judge for the best map making tourniment of all time, keep in mind this is a big and serious project, with alot of maps to judge (I estimate in the area of 250 maps to judge when the deadline hits, maybe more). So if your a serious person with atleast moderate knowledge of map making and would like to be a judge, post here with why you want to do this and what qualifies you.
(Note you cannot judge if you are submitting a map).
Current judges are myself and YoshiDaSniper.
I'd like to apply.
I'm qualified for this because I know a lot about map making and I believe I can judge the maps fairly in this competition. I've been in numerous map making clans and I started map making in 1998, so I'm not new to map making and the community at all. I think I'm a pretty honest/no bull

type of guy, which is needed to judge these types of competitions. I wont give someone a better score if I know them or because they will try to coax me or bribe me, so I'm a pretty unbaised judge.
I'm interested in doing this because I think its a great official map making competition sponsered by SEN (which automatically means there will be much more participants than any other contest we've seen in the past). Because I'm not submitting a map, I figured I might as well judge.
As far as a resumé goes...
- I was leader of [V] and [K], both well-known map making clans in their time.
- Like pcfredz, I'm very good at english (I even took the AP English Language exam before taking the class and passed), and I, too, can write a well thought out analysis on anything given to me.
- I'm a pretty fair judge (as those who have attempted to join Oo. know) and I'm a lot more harsh on participants than most people.
- I'd say I'm pretty mature a lot of situations (on and off Battle.net); I don't go spouting "omfglolz Oo. > *ClanNameHere*" to people, and whenever we're being flooded or loaded I try to handle the situation using diplomacy and reasoning first - as opposed to most peoples' theory of "ban like hell."
- I've seen many maps out on Battle.net so I'd know 85 - 90% of the time if an idea is stolen or not, which is helpful incase anyone attempts to steal a relatively unknown map to use as their own.
I personally would love to be a judge... since my clan tourney kinda flopped... I hope im qualified... im not submitting any maps... and i have nothin better to do... dot dot dot...
I could judge some rpg's ...
personaly im very picky about rpg's needing music, good terran, and gameplay.
I know most triggers and some tricks in making. I like bounds (if bounds can be entered) and i will help if i can...

I own the name Kow@Useast hehe.
Devlin: Don't start the "you don't like me" stuff, just post your credentials, I am not choosing the judge on personsal matters.
And technically I am the sponsor, I provide all the money/prizes. SEN is the promotion machine behind it.

Read the info and stuff, ANY type of map is accepted.
ADDITION: Bump..
Hey can you guys ask some good map makers to look at this thread please? I need more applicants.
ill do it. i like all maps i think i could judge fairly

You saying we not good?
lol jk
i guess a simple "i will apply" won't mean didily squat...
here's my resumè (think the line's facing the wrong way...):
I excel at english amongst my peers (which may be up to and including y'all) and thus can write a gosh-didily-darn-well report
I've played a wide variety of games from RTS, RPG, Simulation, FPS, to Windows Pinball, and I know poorly-made games when I see them (alright, Windows Pinball isn't THAT bad)
My bias is minimum to nonexistent since I have neither gained nor lost anything from any of you
I actually bothered to write a resumæ
I used a different variation similar to "e" every time i say the word resumë
Oh and did I almost forget? Though my mapping skill is Average, my judging skills... well, why not hold tryouts?
EDIT: On top of which I really like to type up stuff (i like to talk), in case if you haven't noticed
Just to follow up from pcfredz:
I am a VERY Advanced mapmaker.
I am a unbaised judge.
I've seen almost every type of map.
Been playing SC for 3 years been mapping for two.
Bump.
I am giving this thread 5 more days then picking the 3rd judge based on who has replied. Please if you are or know a good map maker then look or have he/she look at this thread! Thanks.
I would have been a judge if you wanted, but i'd rather enter it, personally i'd ask someone like Bolt_Head because of his experience in maps, and his wide range of map creations.
Tux would never agree, far too busy, and no one else is mature enough. Mini Moose, maybe...

I think if Mr. Bolt_Head saw this and wanted to be a judge he would have, and Mini Moose has already signed up to submit a map.

whoa, whoa, whoa, what made you think that WE aren't mature enough? just because Yoshi selected Moose to be a Moderator does not mean the rest of use are little pipsqueaks always on the lookout for chaos.
hey lookit this guy's crazy ---->

If you need me to be a judge, just take me off the submitting list and I won't submit. I'm going to be mapping anyway, so I figure I should just enter them in the contest. I think I should enter the contest, only make me a judge if you have to... if you're expecting 250 maps, that is a lot of work.

Sorry, buts it true, there are a limited number of people i consider Mature on this website.
Ok I'll be honost with you, these are the toss-ups for the 3rd judge:
Bolt_Head says he might not submit a map and will judge this.
MiniMoose will judge if he has too.
Devlin is a choice too, but Bolt_head or MiniMoose would come first. (No offence)
No 1 cares about TheOddAngel

I would like to judge maps as well. My time on the computer is always conflicted though.. I tend to be kicked off by my siblings a lot. That will change when my brother moves to an apartment though, it'll be before the contest starts I'm sure.
-I am VERY good at english, I won a spelling bee in 4th grade.
-I judge fairly, although I can't quite voice out my opinions vocally, I can type them.
-My favorite maps are RPG maps, I will be judging on if your RPG has spells and how good they are... that is.. if I become a judge. RP maps are welcome too.
-I've played Starcraft for a few years, so I've played many maps.
-I used to be a bounder, but I'm past that phase.. although I do have moderate skill in bounding.
-I have moderate know-how of mapmaking, my talent is more in terrain though, rather than triggers.
-I've always been looking for better, smarter maps on B.Net. I would almost never play those stupid maps like Don't move the unit.
-I don't play madnesses because:
1. I suck at them
2. They're stupid and too easy to do to deserve any recognition
-I've used computers even before I was 6(I think).
Thanks for your time and good luck to everyone participating(both in trying to become a judge and in the contest).
(This post used 1300 characters if you'd like to know)
oh oh oh, i got an even better idea than selecting a judge from all of us, who you don't really know much about anyway.
just make polls of what a good map should have, in categories from RPG to Movies, and in subcategories of Music to Storyline. that way, we can all participate in making a fair rubric for whomever the judges will be to use... or not

Since there's like almost no way i can win this map making contest if i ever entered it, then i guess i'll try to volunteer as one of the map making judges.
Lol milineum i sut realized somehting about ur avatar....
Lol GUESS WHOS LOOKING THROUGH THE WINDOW
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
PS: Actualy i might sign up
I would love to be a judge... As some people know I don't talk 1337 at all and I don't really like to take peoples sides at all, since I don't know much people here I will never take sides. I am a fair judge, I look for alot of quality in maps and I know when the person spent time on the map. I have lots of freetime to this I could say about 10-30 maps day I could grade.
In response to pcfredz idea, here might be a guideline for people to follow:
1. What is your favorite type of map?
2. Why is that your favorite?
3. What makes a good RPG?
4. What makes a good Defense?
5. What makes a good Movie Map?
6. How important are the following:
a. Storyline
b. Wavs
c. Spelling/Grammar
d. Map Tricks (i.e. cloaked units, crystal cannons, etc.)
e. Overlaps (on the forces, map name, and unit names)
f. Colors on the Map (both minimap terrain and text colors)
g. Terrain
Again it's just a suggestion, not sure if y'all want to use it or not.
