- Fighting - There are three main fighting types. One, you fight on the main map against enemy units and/or buildings. Two, you come in contact with a p48 unit, which moves you to a fighting area off of the main map (units of your computer are transported too) . This type allows you to fight more than one enemy at a time. Three, You enter a building (takes you off the main map as well) while within you must achieve some objective, or kill certain enemy units.
- Screenshots - I attached some screenshots for your enjoyment.
StorylineI have a fully functional storyline, but to keep you waiting I won't release it now. But as a clue, the Andronæ were once the most powerful nation on the continent of Hilæn. Now they are reduced to a loosely bounded group of wandering Nomads, master warriors and seekers of the truth. Throughout the quest, the truth of what happened to their once great nation becomes apparent. Treachery, Betrayal and massive battles are all parts of the past, and they have come back to haunt the enemies of the Andronæ.
Reply to this please.
Looking good! I don't see many allied comps (that battle) in maps. Hope you get the wepons balanced. If you can, make more weapons! But if that will make you work too hard, then stick to the current ones. I have played Borderzone and it had only 4 classes to play. The utilities sound pretty useful except for the mine. It really seems to only work if on defence or if enemy units are rushing at you. The towns are looking good too. I hope for some activity there as well. As for battling, I have seen both systems (on the spot and in an arena) but not on the same map!
Good luck!
Ya it is looking good
I think from what you said about the story ... ITS GONA KICK A**
Paella, I really think we can cooperate in our RPGs... my thread's in my signature
how do you see the screenshots?
Open them in photoshop or the like.
Well pcfredz, if you want we could test together. Just contact me on b.net and I would be glad to play. My map is going to take a long time to complete though. This one is gonna be real big, not size wise, but content. How about your map? How is that going?
Ed331, Yea, I wanted to mix it up in the game with how the fighting works. I don't like it when maps get monotonous, so I decided to do this three-way thing. I think tomorrow I will have some more info up about the storyline and the series of quests.
Plight of the Andronæ
Storyline
The Andronæ, master warriors are nomads. Throughout the last 550 years, persecutions, wars and tribal skirmishes have rendered this ancient race all but extinct. They live in the shadow of the human race, now in its heyday. The world of men is comprised of a loosely bound group of nation-states that form one empire, ruled jointly by the Religious Order and the Baron-King of Hilæn.
Hilæn City is the capital of the nation. The remnants of the Andronæ live among humans, though they are treated as secondary citizens. Still, they are called upon for various acts of assassination and spying as it is deemed necessary by the cultural elite.
The realm of Hilæn is under serious pressure and looms on war. Rebels, resisting the tyrannical rule of the Baron-King murder merchants and travelers on the unprotected roads of the realm. Orcs are multiplying and coming out of their caves form the western mountains, and Heathens, wild-men are all around causing damage to the realm of Hilæn and its people.
A small band of Andronæ are summoned by the High Council of Hilæn to help to quell the Rebels and eliminate the Heathens and Orcs.
From here the quest begins, and a story of betrayal, abuse and tragedy is unraveled. The Plight of the Andronæ will soon be over, leading to a second age of prosperity for this now abused and oppressed people.
Can i test it as well?
I would really like to help you test this map.

Just PM me if u want me to try it out

Maybe OddAngel, if I need your help I will ask you

. But, what I need to know from you guys is.
a) What should the 'Magic Bomb' Do? I know that I had an idea up there, but I have changed it. What effects do you think I should put with it?
b) The 'Smoke Grenade' What should be done for this? What could be a visual effect. ie. Obsevers blowing up around a player, sound, invincible (how long...).
Also, do you have any ideas for more utilies or new battle strategies? Help me.

I think that lots of hallucination deaths would work for a "smoke" effect. Dark Swarm might also work...
Good idea with the Hallucination thing, I will try to implement that into my next test. The Dark Swarm thing won't work because you cannot move a Dark Swarm or create one. Or can you?
I think Magic bomb should blow up and make anyones mana inside the blowing area decrease as long as there in there.
OR
Have it be like a bomb that uses magic and just kills peeps
How about: have Magic bomb create a Corsair and run a Disruption Web at the location where the spell was cast? It will freeze the caster's attacks, but also all enemy melee units from attacking.
Maybe pcfredz, thanks for that idea. Do you think I could make a cloaked allied Defiler (No allied vision) and have that launch Dark Swarm? Would that work?
What do you all think of my story? Good? Bad? Tell me what you think, and what needs to be made clearer. Also, I can change it because it hasn't been implemented into the map.
How about the magic bomb does something with scarabs? I could have them move to the location and then attack. What AI scripts work best with this? Also, I still need feedback on my story guys... Will you help me out or what?
Haven't you read any of my posts
In my very first post i said the story gona kick A$$
I've previously had the idea of an "Invincibility" spell where instead of Enabling Invincibility, a Dark Swarm and a Disruption Web will both be cast at the same time on the location of the Caster. This results in surrounding units still trying to attack you (contrary to ignoring you when Invincibility is enabled), but not being able to do any damage. However, a Magic Bomb probably wouldn't fit the above effects.
Note: Dark Swarm and Disruption Web both cannot stop Psionic Storm or Spawn Broodling from killing... as far as I know anyway.
Can you give scarabs to a different player? If you give and move them after how long do they die? Why when you move a disruption web does it not move DIRECTLY over the men at the location... I think that this might have to do with the fact that it is a unit and such...
Well still I had another idea for magic bomb. I will use the hallucinated observers technique, but it will go in series, for example, the first observer would blow up in a 1x1 loaction aroudn the player. 200 milliseconds later, 9 observers will blow up in a 3x3 layer... all the way to 7x7, each consecutive explosion killing enemies and wounding buildings.
Dark Swarms and Disruption Webs aren't easily moved. Actually, I think Dark Swarms can't be moved, PERIOD. Just cast them as spells with AI Scripts.
Watch what you mean with "Wounding Buildings".
E.g. you've been attacking a building until its health is, say, 1/2500, and your trigger "wounds" the building by setting its HP to 1%... suddenly you're healed the building to 25/2500 health!
If the magic bomb instantly kills all enemy units... isn't that kinda cheap?
Seems great (screenies, storyline, trigger ideas, etc.)!
Is it only B.net played? If not, give me a ring when u want 2 test it.

I'll be glad 2 help... in whatever I can.
My goal is to make the game B.net playable by keeping the file size small. That is why I am using FreeSounds. Right now I am just getting all of the basic triggers done, by doing the towns and such first. Once all of those triggers are done I will start infusing the story into the map. Right now it is only one player, I'm doing it this way to save my own time and find any glitches before I make it fully three player. The map is going well and I have already worked out severaaaal large bugs.

That's how it's supposed to be done! Everyone should take notes.

Okey, dokey. Gonna test it as soon as I can... (I'm at work now)
