Trigger
Description:
Convert Kills and Razings into Minerals
Players:
¤ Force 1
Conditions:
¤ Cur. Player's Kills and Razings Score is between X and Y
Actions:
¤ Modify Score for Cur. Plauer: Subtract X Kills and Razings
¤ Set Resources for Current Player: Add X Ore
¤ Preserve Trigger

X= 2 to various powers, e.g. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256
Y= X times 2 minus 1, e.g. 3, 7, 15, 31, 63, 127, 255
Also end with a trigger where X and Y both equal 1

The problem with the set of triggers described above is that killing 1 Zergling gave 98 ores!

On the other hand, in another map I've made, I set the Ore added HALF of the experience earned, so the Add X Ore would be turned into Add Z Ore where Z=X/2, and that resulted in Zerglings=50 Ores.

This is so old, we have known about this for ages, and it doesn't always work as well, its damaged goods! Put it back

Uhh perhaps it is because you are stupid and don't know how to do KTC? Click the link i n Vindexus sig. Also, SEARCH the forum. This is th 16th topic on this...

well it's not like it bothers me anyway... in WoS2, 98 minerals for a Ling works just fine in matters of balance and stuff.

i never read the KTC posts anyway tongue.gif, just assumed i knew what was going on

EDIT: Checked out Vindexus' site... it really didn't help.
For future references of other people, the following plus, say 3 hyper triggers, should work well... looks like it'd be too slow but...

Trigger
Description:
KTC
Players:
¤ Force 1
Conditions:
¤ Cur. Player's Kills and Razings Score is at least 5
Actions:
¤ Subtract 5 Kills and Razings
¤ Add 5 Custom (Experience)
¤ Add 5 Ore

Sigh... noobs (*shakes head*)...

Trigger
Description:
simple KTC
Conditions:
¤ Current Player kills score is at least 1
Actions:
¤ Set Current Player kills score to 0
¤ Add 1 ore for current player

FLAW - Killing 2 units at once will count as one kill.

For the beest way, refer to thermo's method.

I perfer to count the number of deaths for a unit, and then just do it that way, however its harder to tell who actually killed the unit...

in case if you haven't noticed, i'm trying to give 1 mineral for the unit's worht.

i checked out the tutorials and they only give ways on how to give minerals per kil

DT, you pointed out the flaw yourself, so why are you calling me a n00b when you really don't know the solution yourself? -_-

hey look this guy's crazy ---> ranting.gif

Like it is said everywhere, you "method" si gay and unbalanced. If you kill a zergling, you get 50 minerals. If you kill a hero arbiter, you get 5200 minerals. Not exactly balanced is it?

if you put the actual purpose aside, i'm just wondering how it WOULD be done, not WHY. oh well... as long as you get money right? mellow.gif

Sure, the cost is unbalanced. Try balancing the units to reflect them, that's where skill comes into play.

My god, what is wrong the proven methods of KTC?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Vindexus on 2004-10-05 at 20:09:05
Damn, i actually thought my website was helpful.

It lists
- How to do it
- How it works (or does it, can't remember)
- Ways to make it better
- And things that are wrong with it

What more should I add?

I think i'm gonna do as Thermo suggested and alter his method so that it works for every unit. Shouldn't be that hard.

I liked it too, Vindexus... Perhaps you should add links to the other 15 (this is 16 isn't it?) threads. Can't think of much else...

let me rephrase my whole question

I know how to do KTC, but if you could all direct your attention back to my first post...

My question is, WHY didn't it work?

My own best explanation is that the Subtract Resource trigger doesn't work fast enough.

This hypothesis is dirived from when I once played a map in Single Player and cheated with the +10000 Ore and Gas cheat. The map had a hyper trigger plus another that always set gas to, say, 50. I wanted to build a unit that need 100 Gas, so I typed in the cheat and IMMEDIATELY clicked the Build Unit button. And it worked!!!

Vindexus, there's nothing wrong with your site, it just doesn't help solve my own unique dilemma.

Answer my question first: WHY are you not using easy proven methods of KTC?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2004-10-08 at 16:24:32
The title of my post is "Kills and Razings to get Minerals, works weird", not "HelpMeI'mNewbishAndDunnoHowToMagicallyGiveCashWhenTheDudeKillsTheUnit"... no offense or anything.

The whole purpose of my method is to give different amounts of minerals based on how hard a unit is to kill. Of course, I would modify the enemy unit stats to balance the hardness to kill and the amount of minerals gotten: e.g., Hydralisks are 7 times harder to kill than Zerglings, etc.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2004-10-08 at 17:49:04
So... then what is wrong with using a method that gives a user-specified amount for each unit?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2004-10-08 at 19:01:44
It's not flexible enough to detect killing of multiple units. I think you said it yourself.

Can someone actually solve my question instead of giving me alternate methods?

Here is the thread again.

in normandy by panzer cavalier, he uses the same method by using kills and razings. his trigg was like so:

conditions: current player's kills and razing score is at most 9999
current players kills and razing score is at least 5000

actions: subtract 9999 kills and razings
add 1 ore

preservetrigger

then he had a second trigger which gave 2 ore for more than 9999 ore.

it worked well in normand, and it might well with ur map

Sigh... I'm not talking about simple Kills to Cash triggers.

I'm asking why MY method didn't work... the method that would replicate Kills and Razings scores to Minerals in EXACT amounts.
