Well maybe this has been answered many times before, but I don't feel like spending hours doing a "search" then reading ALL posts.
But is there any way to make trees on fire where players can walk through?
I havn't done this, but I'm sure CC's, Barracks, Etc - in Transit mode, will work, so you can run under them, but what about trees?
Trees have a smaller area, so using a Barracks in Transit over a tree (if that's even possible) - the flames would be way too big for a tree.
A Turrent would probably work. (or pylon, for blue flames)
Would there be any way for players to WALK THROUGH a burning invise turrent/pylon?
To make it appear as if the tree is on fire (and you can walk near it).
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?act=cont...iew&content=107 not that hard to find, its real easy to search the tutorials and most of the stuff is in it. you wont have to read all the posts
just check the tutuorials first please
your welcome
p.s. first make the bunker invisible (makes it look more professional.
a certain amount of hit points also means more or less fire on a building. I'm almost 100% sure it can be controled...but I can't tell you if it can or it can't. So simply use a building with less "flame"

You misunderstand me. I know EXACTLY how to make invisible units AND fire out of the ground - how do you make it so players can WALK through it...
To walk through a tree just use a sprite and walk through it
just a opn but move ur mapping level to beg
wtf, you people didn't understand question.

he's asking how to get a fire at a certain place and have a unit be able to walk through it AND the fire is small enough to look like its a tree on fire.

THANK YOU!!!!! Is that so hard to understand?
(No offence to you guys who don't understand, I'm sorry for explaining so poorly)
I dunno how to make it so you can walk through the tree but there's a map that uses fire in it for special effects. It's a firefighter map, and (coincidentally) the town is townsville. It's a real fun map if you have a full house. Anyway they have forest fires in it try walking through the trees in it, see if they did it.
I would try sprites, are there any sprites of disabled buildings on fire in starforge or w/e has the sprites?
Drakiel, did you miss my other post?

assuming you would understand..I left out the parts - terran building and in transit and over the tree, which can be a sprite OR a doodad, which ever you prefer.

But then wouldnt the person walk UNDEr the fire instead of through it?

It would take mere minutes, and if your
that lazy you shouldn't be making maps.

Yes, it is a direct factor of HP%
play this map to help you find which buildings you want to use for disabling!

Under the fire, through the fire, whatever works.
I basically want trees on fire, yet... are able to HIDE behind the trees still.
YES Everyone, thank you, but I already know how to disable, cloak buildings and how to make terran/toss on fire and deferant percent of hp is a greater or lesser amount of flames.
But - again you're missing my first question.
Tree on fire, how can a marine hide behind it?
Again, I'm thinking transit, but even at least HP missing, the tree is still kinda overly on fire.
Well if you really wanted the players to be able to walk underneath the flames, in my opinion you should use bunkers, because you won't be walking through the trees, but if you persist, you can use a lifted off engineering bay, factory or barracks. I would suggest a mix of all 3 so that the flames are not all the same. Also, consider putting a trigger in the map that changes the health of the buildings randomly so that it looks like the flames are fluctuating.
Use an Engineering Bay because it creates less fire to its side when cloaked, you will be able to go under it, and your just see its outline.
I know if you move a bunker, it'll attack from the old spot, so i was wondering if the flame sprites will stay too. We should etst that to see if the fire will stay in the old place.
No...I don't think the flame sprite will stay...only the "invisible units" will stay..
The problem with cloaking Terran buildings in transit is that ity obviously looks like the tree isn't on fire. I'd say your best bet is a cloaked bunker, or of you want to get interesting you could go for a cloaked pylon or cannon. Both are small enough so thta you could fit a unit under it I believe.
I don't recall it being physically possible to walk through trees, that wil make your map unrealistic
He means walk under it so it completely covers the unit.
I thought he meant under the fire.
DO you want
1. under tree
2. under fire
3. under both
4. under none
That should get us less confused. lol
Yeah, transit buildings have shadows. ANy way to get rid of those?
I know someone made a map where you could walk through units. I don't know how, but that may help if you ask him. I'll try to figure out who it was. it was pretty cool. I was thinking you could do that so the bunker was walk throughable.

1. Under Tree - yes, I mean just walk through a tree like normal doodads, like snipers hide behind leaves, but the "trunk" is still not passable, etc. Just like a normal tree doodad.
2. Under Fire - umm I don't know what that means EXACTLY, but I want the tree to look like it's on fire, yet the tree still be like a Doodad in that they can hide BEHIND the leaves (that are being burned by the fire). trunk of tree still unpassable.
Basically I just want to be able to walk through fire, trees as one example of what I want. Transit buildings give shadow, aye.
Thanks in advance and for continuous posts of info.
If the flames are too big for the tree, don't try to find smaller flames -- just make a bigger tree

Seriously, just place a normal tree and stick sprites around it to make it look bigger.
I go with the buring, disabled bunkers, full of firebats, on top of trees. Then its REALLY on fire!
I think putting extra sprites on the trees to make them look bigger would be the best way to go, and use disabled bunkers to make the fire.
And less life%=more fire. Just keep them from burning down completely.
You can move a bunker and the units stay where it was, but can you move the units out of the bunker?
